Do the subscriptions ever go on sale?

he is joking on that a bit. Subscriptions for MMOs, ussually never go on sale, they are ussually a constant price for a constant Play. 15 USD for multiple alts per server or 12 USD for 1 character per server.

if you buy 6 months of the full version its the same price as the basic sub per month (which lets you afford a few extra retainers with what you save)

Base game and expansions go on sale fairly often. As others said, the subscription itself doesn't tend to go on sale.

Subscriptions would never go on sale because you could essentially buy years worth of game time, long enough to keep you going until the next sale at which point you buy more discounted time.

Other than bulk pricing no. I have gotten a time card from amazon for like 25 once but never seen it since...and that was years ago.
