A LOT of companies actually do this when it comes to money for time and/or digital ingame purchases. nothing shady about it.
Other MMO: When WoD came out I jumped in bought it from battle net, subbed, played about 18 hours a day for a week, decided this is the worst experience of my gaming life and got a refund for sub time, and the expansion. No fighting, push back, nothing but a refund and I'm sorry asking me to revisit the game later.
FFXIV: Friend bought ffxiv from website, hated it, plus she got deployed overseas, played for about a day or two was still free trial time, got nothing back except terrible customer service and a wall of generic copy and pasted responses.
I've even gotten games from Humble bundle, activated them on Uplay or steam and gotten refunds after not liking them so that is a more inline with steam and FFXIV example.
So OP I see why you are confused when so many other places have gotten it right, or at least make it right in the end in the age of modern gaming. SE is not a very modern company when it comes to MMO, technology, and customer service in general.
This is false other than maybe inside of steam but really better to buy most games elsewhere anyways.. I have gotten refunds peronsally from WOW, GW2 and a few others. SE is very bad at customer service and very behind in times tho.
And they are from Steam with + 2 hours played?
With FFIXV you are buying a key to gain access to said content wheras with WoW and other MMOs you are buying access to said product/service in order to play it. Laws also vary by country. Obviously I'm talking all digital here since the physical aspect is another can of worms such as fraud.
You cant get refunds for MMOs on Steam, how does that have to do with SE -.-
Also in most cases with MMOs you cant get refunds, so kind if curious how or if you really did that.
You should have played the free trial first, lv60 and all of the main game and first expansion to play at no charge
The fact I have ESO refunded on my steam says otherwise. Also the reply you quoted wasn't saying steam he mentions all MMO, netflix and spotify...read before you see red and thanks :)
As to how I simply asked. This is a SE and FFXIV poor service issue and nothing more. It's not "cant" refund it's they won't.
the steam refunds can all be done if you ask a real person regardless of playtime or when purchased or if it's a mmo or whatever.
I refunded ESO with mmo than 2 and a mmo so yes. Also you mentioned things that are in no way on steam. It's an SE issue and poor customer service on their part as it can easily be done.
It's better to say won't than can't here. They can but won't.
Why did you buy the game if you only played for a few hours, since you had the refund time in mind, and didn't play the trial version where you can play up to lvl 60 with around hundreds of hours of free gameplay?
It's a genuine question. Did nobody tell you?
The reason you can't refund it is because when you get the Steam key, you also have to activate the product key on the Square Enix website. So it's almost mandatory to use the trial version, or this frustrating situation will occure.
