Is the game better to buy from Steam or Square Enix

Square Enix is out of CE digital copies now. Supposed to be getting more later, I guess. I know that where ever you get it you are committed to getting everything from the same place. Because digital from Square Enix and digital from Steam don't work together. It does look like though that the Steam version has had some issues where the Square Enix account isn't recognizing the games bought from Steam. Is that a legit problem or is that from people trying to use the two together?

I always say buy it wherever it's on sale atm. I had no problem setting up the steam version for myself or the SE version for my sister. Just don't try to mix.

Buy it on website for prices always. I used a vpn there to get my currency in dollars. Some people say that does not work, i say you do not know what you're doing, i literally did this yesterday that's how i know it works.

Id go with SE. I hear signing up on steam is very confusing. A lot of people here seem to have problems with it. Maybe people have problems with the windows version too, but it went pretty well for me. And yeah, the two are not compatible. If you play on steam, you can't play on that account on windows and vice a versa.

To be fair though Square Enix is good enough to convert currency from euro to dollars, so you only save yourself from vat prices and currency differences of course, some games do 1€=1$ you would think in 2021 people have moved on from that, but that is not the case with many games.
