How big of a difference does an mmo mouse make?

This is my first time ever playing an mmo so i'm wondering if more buttons if a game changer. How many of you have an mmo mouse ?

I completely forgot about the tilting scrollwheel keybinds. Holy hell, ima put movement abilities there heh.

I put auto-run on the 'push down the scrollwheel' bind. In every game ever. It is SUPER useful.

Yeah I do auto run there too, I just forgot you can bind stuff to tilts on the g600.

I had a razar naga with all the buttons for mmos on the side. HATED IT

The mouse itself was to small in my hand and the buttons on the side were so small and with no gap in between them so could never tell what button my thumb was on.

I have had bad experiences with razer products in the past. I never tried the naga, I am surprised it is so small. The g600 is better in regards to not being able to tell what button you are on though, the buttons are angled inward so that your thumb naturally fits in between 2 of the rows. You know that you are on buttons 1-6 or 7-12 because of that and from there you know the top row is 1-3 and bottom 4-6.

naga is actually really great, for the year you can use it before it breaks

That is exactly the bad experiences with razer I mentioned. I tried 2 separate times with their headsets, both had something break after just a few months.

This g600 I have had for 10 years now, I bought it during Cataclysm in wow. It developed the infamous double click problem after a couple years, but it still works well enough.

None. It makes none. If you can remember your keybinds, there is no difference in a game with this type of GCD. Or any game, really. A gaming mouse doesn't just make you better, or improve, but for some people their brains work better when handling it that way, so it could be better, or worse, and in that respect may be better, or worse, for you.

I... Partially agree. 100% agreed that it does not actually make you better at the game or anything, especially in ff14 with the long gcd.
But it definitely makes it easier to control without needing to bind most of your keyboard to abilities. When I played wow before I had the g600 I couldn't have movement keys bound to keyboard because it was all bound to abilities, I moved entirely with the mouse. With the G600 almost all of my abilities are bound to the mouse and I can have all the movement keys I want, I even have separate binds for strafing.

It also definitely takes some getting used to, so mileage may vary for different people. I say if you can find a cheap one and you have the money to spare it is worth trying out at least.

You don't have to have one by any means. I used to just have the two side buttons before.

That said, my right thumb having access to 36 binds is pretty nice lol. I won't play MMO's without one anymore.

in most games with alot of keybinds i use things like
e,r,t,y - shift+e,r,t,y
repeat with
f,g,h,z,x,c,v,b,n
1234
thats 34 keybinds right there
although usually dont shift z or x since its hard to reach and awkward so 32

most mouse have 2 side buttons for another 4 keybinds

I've been playing MMO's since 2004. I have been in semi-hardcore raiding guilds and never owned an MMO mouse. I am sure that once you would get used to the convenience of an MMO mouse, it is hard to go back. If you never owned one though: It is hard to miss something you never had in the first place, I guess.

Had a g600 for years until i switched over to logitech g pro wireless. Honestly couldn't care less for the buttons i used to have. Just use combo buttons as in, control+x and shift+x etc.

i use keyboard and mouse. but since its your first mmo, youll need to keybind. do not use 1-0 hotbar unless you have massively long fingers lol. Try using 1-4, RFCVQEXZ or any other easy to reach keys you want to use on your first hotbar and for the other hotbars use the same keybindings but with shift and ctrl. you can also throw in a few mouse buttons like middle mouse button etc. Example of my keybindings ( I use 3 hotbars). *=shift and c=ctrl
