Trials can't even message people on their friends list?
So my friend who owns the game added me to his friendslist, and I can't even message him in game to let him know I'm online? I have to pull out my phone and text message him because of this development oversight?

Seems like a really silly thing for the devs to miss in a decade+ old game.

It's a trial? Do you not know what that means?

Also, they tell you this on their website, they have a whole page dedicated to outlining what Trial Accounts can and can't do.

You must have not read all the restrictions on a Free-Trial account.

Sounds like an oversight on your end.

Maybe you should read and understand what you are doing before you complain about someone else’s incompetence….

FFXIV's free trial is soooo generous, yet there are so many that still complain...

No, it's not a silly thing. The 'No Chat' feature was implemented to deter free players from spamming ads, RMT, harassments, etc. (i.e. The system is in place to keep bots and trouble-some players from creating hundreds of Free account and spamming chat messages. Which is a huge issue in Free2Play games.)

It focuses Free Trial players on trying out the Content and not bothering the paying community. When you feel the content is worth your time & money, then all restrictions are lifted.

There's no way you can defend this. If you don't want goldbotters/sellers to be able to message people, that's fine.

but if one of your friends adds you to their friendslist. Why are you not allowed to group/message them?

I don't disagree with any of the other restrictions but this. It just seems silly, unnecessary, and pointless, even if it is on the rule's list as the other twerps on this thread like to point out.

It's really not. If i was a gold seller i would ask random people to ad me as a friend, only for to after send them links to shady gold selling websites, offering them "specific promotions tailored directly to them" and other stupid offers.

Because removing someone from their friend-list does not remove you from theirs. Bots can spam invite, and if you accidentally accept then you're ♥♥♥♥ out of luck. This happens for paying customers as well.

Btw, you don't need to text your friend by phone, just use discord, steam, etc...

Yea I can you freeloader. You want everything while paying nothing.

But, I'm sometimes nice to leeches,so here's a tip to help you out, make your friend make a Linkshell and then invite you. taa-daa, you can now spam your friend with whatever you want.
Jim Lahey Aug 9, 2021 @ 4:49pm
You want to deal with an even worse army of chinese gold farmers/spammers than the ones who already sit over in the major cities with their names along the lines of kalkasdlkaj kmfasmdasm. Spamming you with /tells and spamming /shout etc and flooding the market killing the economy?

Because I can assure you. Us paying players do not. And I'm sure people trying to just try the game out on the free trial do not neither.

Gotta be bait. No way you’re actually this self entitled over something you’re not paying for.
Walkerk19 Aug 9, 2021 @ 6:44pm
From my experience with F2P games.

Gold seller and bots are the worse when they have access to whispers / private messages

Ever been spammed by friend invites? Then accidentally accept and they spam you their ads? I have been there.
