And between 1 and 49, 51-59, 61-69 and 71-79 you are waiting for Leveling or Mentor roulette people if there are none also queueing for same dungeon
It's not awkward. Some of the best moments in the game are the way they are as a result of having to play with others.. and that's long before you reach endgame.
The only way I would even remotely believe you is if you're playing the game at 3 in the morning. No way are you waiting a half an hour as a tank during prime time. I rarely, if ever wait more than 2 minutes for a queue when I'm on tank with the only exception being content that is not in the roulettes like EX fights and alliance raids because no one queues for EX fights outside of PF groups and alliance raids is just the nature of being 24 man raids and it takes time to find enough players.
I think the problem is that people are too lazy and rely on the duty finder far too often to simply get off their ass and form a party them selves.
I don't run into this problem anymore, mainly because I try to group up with people in my FC now and other people I play with. Which I did not have when I had those queue problems originally.
However, knowing that this IS a multiplayer game (MMO being short for MASSIVE MULTIPLAYER ONLINE), I know that that's just personal preference of mine and that I need to suck it up and deal. And I recommend the same for you, in all seriousness and sincerity.
Personally, I also have been avoiding progress because the next story quest is after replaying the *Extreme* versions of some previous boss fights (I'm around level 50 in the main quest levels), so until I feel like going through fights for who-knows-how-long again, I just mess around with some other stuff. Maybe use the Hunting Log and Levequests as a tool for leveling up Jobs I liked outside of my main. (I main White Mage, am focusing on Archer/Bard as my secondary, am having fun with Blue Mage but limited jobs operate differently and good luck getting into dungeons to learn certain spells without help, and I dipped my toes into the other magic-based classes as well.)
Know what you like in the game, and do what you like. Ultimately, it's up to you, taking this game as it stands, if the actually MMO aspect of this MMO game is a dealbreaker for you.
Singleplayer as a healer is a lot more fun than you'd think. It's true that you don't have that much variety in terms of attacks, but I'm constantly able to buff myself with heals during fights, so in the end I felt like I was running down most mobs unless I was caught by surprise or something. POTIONS ARE OBSOLETE, just selling them or discarding them every time they end up in my inventory.
Granted, when I made my healer character, I was trying to get something more like an arcanist/summoner but I don't think I understood the descriptions that well. I was new, what ya want from me? That being said, between being able to heal myself while solo and feeling like playing support really suits me when engaging in the multiplayer, I couldn't have had a happier accident.
