More masculine character options?

I'm having a problem getting into the game due to the limited masculine options. It seems the only options are either ugly or feminine. Can you unlock better looking masculine stuff like hair later on or no?

No. Picking a more masculine race would be the other option though. You can also unlock more hairstyles later on in the game.

I have a very masculine female character and she looks great. I prefer to play male but the male gear is just not up to the same standard as female gear.

Jokes aside you can make some pretty buff masculine humans though I admit the face options leave something to be desired but you can still get pretty cool ones like the choice asmongold made.

Mods are forbiden and you can be banned.

You won't be though as long as you keep your use of them on the down low, just don't talk about them in game and Square Enix will never punish you for it.

There are, SE and Yoshi-p don't necessarily want you to use them but they won't go out of their way to ban you for it, as long as you keep quiet about it and also don't advertise what you use then you'll be fine. I am unsure if there's an anti cheat or something with ffxiv but should it detect anything it's a ban as 3rd party is against ToS

You'll also get banned should you harass others with mods, same goes with act (a damage tracker).

They don't want you using it, they won't actively ban you for it as long as you keep quiet, should you get banned they won't unban you.

It's a hush hush situation so to speak.

You don't need to run 3rd party software for injected graphic / visual mods
