Trouble moving account from Free trial version to Starter Edition bought from Steam

Now that I bought it on steam, it tells me I don't have an active account/whatever. But on the website on my square account it says I have a free trial account and when I try to upgrade and input the steam product codes I got, it gives me an error saying I can't put in the steam codes without owning the game? Basically, Square's help points me to Steam, and steam doesn't have a good answer I can find. Surely other people have had this problem. Anyone know how to fix it so I can play and add Shadowbringers to my account?

I'm not sure you can. I just bought it here, to avoid the limitations. 25 bucks. Fully fleshed out game vs. New World's 40 buck soon to be FTP cash shop.

I just don't understand because a friend did the same thing (played originally on a trial account and then bought the codes from steam) and his works. I screen shared with him and he couldn't figure out what the problem was either. I feel like I'm going to have to delete my account and start a new one or something

I just did it you have to purchase it here on steam then try to login as normal then it should open up the square enix website, paste the product key steam gave you and youre good to go

log in mog station, if you have tried acc then click on transfer to full game
