Hmm i guess its a bird hard to explain, so at the moment i am playing the free trial and i got the client from square enix website and not steam. So i downloaded the free trial version from square but now steam has a sale for the DLC so i bought it and the question is. Do i need to re download the whole thing from steam? Like a different client or can i just use this same installer that i have and just use the keys from steam to upgrade? I am playing the free version until i reach the max level before i upgrade to full version
steam and windows are not compatible and switchable
So i can't upgrade my non steam trial account at the mog station with my steam code, and then just log in on the same account and continue okaying?
Well it turns out that is indeed possible to go from non steam trial to steam retail.
You pretty much just go on your mog station and use the code from steam on your non steam free trial account and then you download the client on steam and play from there using the same account. What doesnt work is doing it the other way around, steam trial to windows retail version
Sorry to say but you will have to start over. Once you start free trial on steam account you need to buy the game and every future DLC on steam. But if you start your free trial with the square enix client from their website you can purchase the full game on steam and use that code on the mog station, but then your account will be converted to a steam account.
So basically you can't convert steam trial to full version but you can convert square enix trial to full steam version if it makes sense.
Like nuclear said.
They are NOT compatible.
If you would have red the bright orange box above the buy section it would have told you that they are not compatible and that you have to start anew
And no you can NOT change from steam trial to windows full.
Steam is Steam
Windows is Windows.
If you try to switch don't cry when it doesn't work because it is not supposed to work like SE said
