FINAL FANTASY XIV Online

Two questions about loot
Is there really not any rarity in this game (Normal-magic-rare-legendary etc.) ?

Im still only level 30 but havent seen any rare items, do they come in play later or is it just iLVL?

What does the Need/greed/pass actually do?

Like in boss battles in leveling you get chests and there is three options, i assume keep mean you get to have the item, and greed can used only once..? and if you pass on an item does it mean you get extra money and/or exp at the end of the fight? if no whats the point of that button?

You need the item for the class your on
You want the item
You don't want the item

Need pretty much available when you haven't got that item for the first time, or class / job specific gear. Roll the highest.

Greed is greed, you roll for random. It still take priority on person who roll Need.

Pass is not rolling aka 0. You don't get extra money / exp. You just let others roll for need / greed.

If you win the roll, you keep the item. You can still lost with Need if the other person roll highest Need.

Ok thanks for the info

Can you still explain whats the difference between just skipping the button and pressing "pass"`?

Isn't both technically "0" ?

Need is if you need the item for your current class, you cant need for items you cant use/equip.
Greed is if you want it for.. well.. greed reasons, trade-in for company seals, dismantling, glamour.
Pass, you just roll a 0 and wont get it. waiting out the timer will automatically greed roll the item, leaving the dungeon will do an automatic pass on everything currently being rolled for.

Not pushing anything takes the entire 5-minute timer to act as if you passed, while passing gets the roll over as soon as everyone else hits the button; it's kind of annoying when people don't hit the button and the timer has to tick down instead, tbh. :/

To clarify on the colors, white=bought gear, green=dungeon gear, blue=tomestone/boss gear, purple=relic weapons. A yellow glow (called high quality) on it means that the gear met certain requirements while being crafted giving it higher secondary stats. In general higher ilevel gear is better than lower ilevel and high quality gear is better than standard quality gear of the same ilevel.

It also locks out the ability to kick someone from the group, or so I've been told.

gear rarity doesnt exist at endgame in this game.

the colors are just fluff here basically. they had some meaning in the past but not anymore now.

only color youll see is green and blue basically at endgame. green is crafted and dungeon drop gear and blue is everything from tomestones to savage.

the relic is purple but thats only for the relic weapon to begin with. its probaly just to make it standout as its stats are mostly irrelevant for progression content till the end of a patchcycle (when everything is already done anyway) to begin with.

so dont worry about gear color in this game too much. unless youre doing savage and above content when its freshly released the only thing that matters is ilvl in the end of the day. as optimization for the rest of the content is simply fully unneeded to complete it.

Rarity isn't a thing in FF. There's rarer itens like mounts and minion that can drop in dungeons, but the only important thing on gear is its iLevel.

On rolling loot, NEED has priority over greed, but you can only roll it for itens of your class. If 2 or more people use NEED, they roll for it, if no one uses NEED, then the game rolls for greed.

GREED can be rolled for any item of any class, but if anyone used need, that person has priority even if their roll is worse than the people choosing GREED. So you you're dps and want that paladin shield, you roll GREED, but if the paladin in the part uses need he gets the item by default.

PASS is just when you don't want to bother with it, you gain nothing.

You also can't roll if you already have that item, if you do, then you'll be forced to pass on it. So you can't farm 12 of the same item in a dungeon, you need to spend that item in some way before getting it again. The easiest way is to donate to the grand companies to get seals.

incorrect. purple is only used on the relic weapons. it doesnt exist outside of that. so its only available for the weaponslot and relics arent more rare than certain blue items to begin with. purple solely exists to tell the relic apart from other weapons but not because its more rare. for example for slots except weapon purple doesnt even exist.

blue is the highest actual rarity of regular loot. but at endgame there really isnt any color rarity at all anymore since years. ilvl is all that matters.

and the rarity colors still exist at end game, Relics are 100% more rare than blue items lmao, Not everyone does their relic and even if they did it would all still be purple, they are still higher rank than everything but Eden savage weapon of the same ilvl, Everyone can go get blue items like they are a dime a dozen, and crafted/dungeon items of the green variety are infinitely more common than blue drops and purple relics

count the amount of savage weapons and ex trial ones vs the relics. youll be suprised. the first relic is literally HANDED to you for no effort. plus is gettable by literally anyone while the others require playerskill and effort to get compared. something most of the overall playerbase lacks.

but i already told you why your claim is false. no need to repeat that again. blue is the highest rarity in this mmo. but at endgame rarity is irrelevant anyway.
