Nothing huh? Having the same issue on multiple PC's. I can't find a response from the official team anywhere, but clearly this is an issue.

i don't know what causes this issue so i can't say this would help but there's a third party launcher called XIVlauncher you could try

I am having the same issue. Windows 10 and never ran the game before. Logged in and get this error straight away.

I fixed it by Starting steam in Admin Mode

So, I have no real explanation on why it works but I found some odd way of getting past this. For me, I have to use Nvidia Geforce Experience so I don't know if it works for other GPUs.

TLDR verions:
Run Steam and all Final Fantasy exe files as admin.
Close Steam.
Run through Gefore Experience.

So, what I did was close STEAM. I made sure that it was all closed by checking task manager.
Then I used GeForce Experience to launch the game (If it isn't showing scan your games). Then I launched it through this.

I have NO idea why Square is saying we have cheats or something running (This is what error code 6d is) but for some reason Steam is what is causing this issue.

It does reopen Steam but it runs for me.

Some other things I did was run all of the FF 14 exe files as Admin but I am not sure if this helped.
All of the exe files are found in:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\FINAL FANTASY XIV Online"
for me. Your location might be different.
I then right clicked each exe file and went into the Compatibility tab and then ticked Run this program as an Administrator. Of course your need to be an admin on your PC to do this.
I also have Steam running as Admin but that was always the case and I had this issue.

I have no idea if all of this is fixing it tbh. Just telling you all what sometimes works for me at getting this to work. It is a pain in the ass and I hope they can fix it. I have contacted them but no reply and it might be a steam issue.

Starting steam as an administrator works for me. Go to task manager while you have steam open, find the steam name and right click, find ¨¨go to file location¨ Right click on the steam.exe file and go properties, then go to start as administrator, check it, clikc okay and you are done when you restart the app. If this doesnt work then gg
