how much does ping matter?

Well, because my friend is in EU i'm considering playing there, so wondering if this game is too ping intensive, like aion.

I think if you want to absolutely min max you need sub 100 ping to be able to double weave off gcd abilities between on gcd abilities but beyond the normal stuff like if you are lagging hard making it dificult to get out of telegraphs in time not a whole lot. Im pretty sure they have said they design around a 200ms ping but I could be wrong.

well, i'd be guessing i'd be around 140, def not sub 100.

The game is mostly intensive in citys or places where theres lots of people or raids. biggest sudden spike ive seen is 2k in major citys before it become normal again after each visit cause it needs to load in all the players

It affects some classes more than other but your own skill is going to be a bigger effect than missing a double weave once in a hundred because of ping. The only thing tuned tight enough to matter is ultimate. All the other hard content is tuned around midtier boss in mythic raids in wow or less give or take on the boss. It wont make or break doing any of that content though.

You'll have a harder time playing MCH with high ping but that's about it really.

I have been playing on an EU server from NA and it has been perfectly fine. I have even done ARR and HW extreme trials and not really felt terribly disadvantaged.
I am sure my dps is worse than it might have been but it feels fine so far.

I wouldn't say ping is much of an issue, on the character select screen it always says my connection is "poor", yet the lag I experience is nearly non-existent, and this is coming from an Australian (the land of piss-poor internet speeds) playing on an EU server,
