Character Creation Restriction

I have been trying for the last few days to make a character on the same server as my brother. He has been talking about this game and playing it for the last couple months. So I decided to give it a go. For three days, the server he plays on is restricted to new characters. Today I got up and decided to try to make a character and noticed ALL servers in my region were restricted to new characters! This is nuts. How is one suppose to be able to play with their friends? Any advice on when is the best time to try. I imagine its going to be 3 am or something like that. I have tried morning, afternoon and evening and the restriction doesn't seem to lift.

3-6am is probably the best time. The game has had a massive influx of new people. So character creation has been restricted to keep servers from imploding.

Early morning probably wont work right now. Unfortunately they just put all of aether on congested status for an indeterminate amount of time.

Right now OP, you can make a character on another data center and wait to transfer or wait for the data center visit system to be added in a couple months. It sucks but it's that or just not playing until the servers catch back up.

As long as the server you're on is on the same data center you don't need to be in the exact same server as him. You can do world visits and group up via cross server. The only real downside is there are no cross server free companies. They do have cross server linkshells though.

The problem is the entire data center is on lock down.

Aether unfortunately is yes. If his brother is on the aether data center then ya that is unfortunate.

Both Light and Chaos in europe is on lockdown as well. Can't create any new character. My wife managed to get her character created, but I seem to be out of luck. We both bought the game today.

I guess those 30 days of game time you get when buying the game will be used up not being able to play... :P

It was a pain, but I'd just keep trying. They just made adjustments to servers, so maybe you and wife roll some where else. Check their post about congested and preferred servers.
