most recipes are unlocked automatically as you level the class.
Some(Master Recipes) are unlocked from books you get with Scrips at levels 60, 70, and 80.
The level 50 master recipes are from crafted item exchanges in Mor Dhona.

The crafting skills are jobs in their own right with rotations and abilities around making items and level by making things.

so how do I level say the smithing? Just craft items?

I think I got halfway through that video before I decided trying to learn any of the crafting classes would be akin to a living nightmare. My god, whoever thought of making a crafting class so difficult should be locked up in the White Ward, cause this is NUTS.

It's really not that difficult. The fast track is gil, level gatherers and sell mats on the MB and use that money to fuel leveling your crafters or just gather everything for yourself. It's very doable

Definitely not doable for us lowbie nobodies who can't use the MB, but then again, we don't matter to anyone. :steammocking: But eh, at least it's a different take on things. Still nutty, though. Having to make macros just for crafting.

Its still doable. Get the Miner, Botanist, and Fisher jobs to farm all the materials yourself. Make at least one of every item in the crafting logs for each one. Making an item high quality will give you more exp. Getting high quality materials is a matter of patience and getting some better gear.

You CAN craft without a rotation if you have an understanding of the crafting system, but when it comes to mass crafting items and you know you can consistently get 100% for HQ, using a macro is just convienence.

You dont need any macros for crafting. In fact, this game doesnt need much macros to begin with, because they are detrimental at least to the battle mechanics.

I would say crafting in FF14 is far easier than in WoW, especially because you get so much gil and the ressources cost next to nothing. You can easily level up a crafting job without even using any of the gatherer jobs.

I've never made a macro for crafting for anything....ever....I hardly use the market boards (why buy what I can gather and/or craft myself) except to sell the stuff I make and I actually MAIN crafting BECAUSE it's just like playing a combat class. Crafting has its own rotation, it's own bosses or raids in the form of artisinal or mastercrafted gear and instead of "just" getting loot at random I pick and choose which loot I want to receive and its usually better than what a dungeon of equal level would give me.....

Just went through leveling all my crafters to 71 on an alt.

Let me tell you it's so much easier/faster now then it was when I did it a few years back.

I leveled them up to about 20 each then spammed leves for exp and sold items on the MB to cover my costs.

Swapping out a lot of leves for Collectables till 70.

Don't forget to do your daily Grand Company hand ins, double exp for HQ items.

Please do NOT follow that guide. Its a horrendous mess with so many wrong informations and really bad macros.

If you want decent informations on how to approach leveling. How crafting works in the later stages and detailed informations about melds, rotation and breakpoints join the balance discord.

https://discord.gg/thebalanceffxiv

In there you will find great ressources for all Crafter & Gatherer oriented stuff and also for each combat profession in the game.

Uh, majority of low level recipes use materials that are sold right at the guild. You should be able to reach level 20 just by completing low level recipes. (Provided you have Road to 70.) It's also not hard to just gather the stuff yourself. The easiest way of leveling is just doing your daily turn-ins at your grand company.
