Zepla made a great video on this subject but I don't have time to find it. Search YouTube for it.
There is an ingame button for gearsets for different jobs, It recs the proper gear also.

i usually got the other crafting classes on each crafting class, and my dragoon for if i see a player in trouble while out gathering. You can drag them out from the save set menu
I forget the structure and exact lines to write for the macro, but theres a few videos on YouTube. Just type in FFXIV HUD and some good videos will pop up.

To get the job icon as the macro icon, you have to assign the macro icon “micon” to your Soul Crystal.

You’ll need to assign the gear set (gs) number for the corresponding job. IE: if WHM is set to gear set 1, the macro lines are something like,

/micon Soul of the White Mage /change gs 1

Every time you save your gearset, youll need to “reassign” gearset number to “1”. The macro will load whatever gearset is on that number.
What I do is have 3 hotbars in the middle of the screen at 120% with all of my jobs on it.
They're on HUD Layout 2 and I switch to it by pressing the - key.

Then my macro is this where X is whatever number your gearset is:

/macroicon X gearset
/gs change X
/hudlayout 1

So I hit the - key which brings up my hotbars by switching to HUD layout 2 with my macros hotbar and whatever macro I choose changes the gearset and then switches back to HUD layout 1

That saves what, one button click? In a game of a gazillion clicks, I guess i's worth it.

It's tedious, but I think the end result is clean if you're the type to not want to open your Character menu every time you want to switch gearsets/jobs. This can also be applied to emotes, mounts, minions, consumables -anything.
just drag the gearset onto your hotbar

just drag the gearset onto your hotbar
This, unless you want special icons or want to tie 4 messages and an obnoxious emote to it, this will be all you need to do. Click and drag.
So first in your character "window",
there is a button above where your weapon slots in called "Gear Set List",
where one can save and load whatever gear you currently are wearing
(if you switch out to new gear just hit the button "Update Gear Set" and your current gear is saved on the same Set you are using).

To know what gear is in a Gear Set there are 2 ways I know of;
#1: Equip the Gear Set [the sets are tied to a specific job]
#2: Right click on a gear piece in the Armory Chest and choose "Open Gear List" (this lets one see what Set(s) a gear is tied to)

From here you can Ether (hehe pun because spelling mistake):
Drag and drop from the Gear Set List to desired hotbar,
Or...
BE A MACRO KING / QUEEN / JESTER!!!

Now onto said Macro-ing;

For me there is 3 options for the Macro Icons (micon for short);
Gear set tied: /micon [gear set number] gearset <-- will give job icon
Job Tied: /micon "[the job]" classjob <-- will give job icon
Fancy F*er: /micon "Soul of the [the job]" item <-- will give job crystal

To change Gear Set (gs for short) there are 2 ways;
#1: /gs change [NUMBER of the Set]
#2: /gs change [NAME of the Set]
(ps. if you add a number after the Set you will Glam with the same number from your Glamor Plates)
(pps. Glamour is a way to just change the look of a gear (can be removed later) but all stats is still there, untouched)

An example;
/micon "Soul of the Dancer" item
/gs change 5 4

You have now an Icon with the Soul Crystal for Dancer, have changed your Gear Set to
"Gear Set 5" and added the Glamour from Plate 4 over your gear for Set 5.

I know this is a year old post, but I found this while looking up how to do my own macros and thought "why not post a bit more about what is possible?" and here we are.
