Really struggling to access free trail

I'm attempting to play the free trial of the game to see if it's worth purchasing. I've made a square enix account as the launcher requested and had to change the launcher settings so it wouldn't require a registration code. Then when i try to login it then tells me i need a service account. when i go onto square enix account management to create a service account it tells me i need a registration code? How is it a free trial if i need a registration code to log in that you need to buy the game in order to access?

Can you do a screenshot of the account management page? Hide all the personal info of course.

You need to delete your FFXIV Documents folder and then reopen the launcher. That's how I got the free trial at least

Same here man. They are asking me to access my square enix account, which I DO own because I have played shadow of the tomb raider and deus ex. It says password or ID is wrong (even though I am logged in on the square enix website while Im doing this but ok) so I changed it and still it says password is wrong. lol.

I tried creating a new account with the same email, it doesn't even acknowledge that the email is already occupied by someone else.

Nope. No such email ever ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ arrived (and yes yes I checked spam). At least let me create a new account with a different email? nope. all data inserted will be sucked into the square enix void and no email will ever arrive. Funnily, my gf was trying to do the same thing and had the same exact story.

Their database is a complete failure, its disgusting, I have seen more competence from f2p chinese mobile games. Square Enix if you are reading this, I don't get it, DON'T YOU WANT MY MONEY?!

this update: after an hour of blood sweat and tears I have managed to create a new account (even though I have my old one still but ok), and I get this message

Solution: don't go through the steam client, get the free trial from square enix site the launcher directly. Still though, they don't recognise my old account anymore (even though on their website I can login).

no m8, this is not the way the world works. Try literally ANY other MMO out there and you are ready to go (for installation) in 5 minutes tops. Not even in the 90's would you go through all this bs obstacle course just to spend your money voluntarily.

Trying the free trial from Steam...launched the game launcher first time...accept this and agree to that and register. Received code in email...enter code...now it's wants a software key? Where do I get software keys for free trials?

Watched the tutorial on Youtube. So I exited out after asking for the license key just like the video and also I have deleted the said Documents folder and relaunched the game launcher but am still getting this error when trying to start free trial...

I ran into the registration code when I created an SE account through Steam. Just close the launcher after you've made the account and then select I already have an account. Once you sign in, it should let you register for the free trial without the registration code. At least that's what worked for me.

I bypassed the 3rd party thing and went with the PC version and had no trouble.
