How to handle targetting as a healer?
So im a dps main but wanted to work on a healer class for a moment but DEAR LORD IS IT HARD TO TARGET TEAMMATES AND ENEMIES EASILY.

Any tips on how to properly handle that?
Currently im relying on clicking on my teammates or the party list, and for enemies I hope there is only 1 and press TAB to return to the fight.

Disagree. Cycling through all enemies/party members is a nightmare. It’s so much easier to just click on health bars or party/enemy list to target the thing that you want to target directly.

I'm not interested in arguing with you, or trying to convince you of anything, but I'm also not interested in sharing a party with you if you think tapping down on a D pad twice is a "Nightmare" lolol.

Trying to coordinate 6 sprouts on an extreme syncd KMM XII fight is a "Nightmare". Finding a party for a synced Binding Coil of Bahamut on monday at 11PM is a "Nightmare"

Tapping a button twice. Well. I guess if you got no thumbs.

You really gonna pretend you don’t know what hyperbole is when I say that tab targeting is a nightmare, and then use hyperbole in saying that you only have to tap a button twice?

Crazy how tapping a button twice always lands you on the right player in parties of 4-24 players.

My god, I'd rather use my testicles on an arcade stick than use Gabe's nipples, you Sir must be one hell of a healer to disable yourself that much.
Consider the game was actually made with controllers in mind, that look pretty decent to me

“Made with controllers in mind” does not mean that the game plays optimally on a controller. It’s very clunky.

As it sounds to be. I love a controller for most games but I will never play FF14 with it.
Tbh anyone with enough practice can play FFXIV on a guitar hero controller, it just takes more time with it to become fluent in your ≥2.5 second GCD abilities + oGCD' so you'll forgive me when I believe players who are using utter rubbish controllers are disabling themselves from input methods that are easier and allows more thinking time. Especially on healer when as someone has already stated, reviving a MNK or a RDM is the difference between a wipe and a run.

It's not clunky in the slightest on a controller, I can use a controller in current end-game content just fine on jobs that are basically piano simulators like SMN. The game even has specialised hotbars known as a cross-hotbar for controller users.

Anyone can use any input method, it just takes time and dedication to that particular method but a steam controller needs to be stopped, there is a reason they stopped selling those P.O.S.

In fact, I'm fairly sure people bring up steam controllers in forums to stir people up.. in that case, well done.

Definitely not arguing that, those things look uncomfortable as hell and equally hideous, I'll stick with my PS4 controller for FFXIV.

you can cycle between the target's target using T if your tanks is doing a good job you can go from enemy to tank and vice versa using it, or use the F's F2 is the tank unless the party composition changes because someone left the group

It's a superior controller. It's fully customizable and extremely comfortable in my hands, My custom binding mimics that of a PS4 controller with some added adjustments for my personal likings. My Steam Controller is my preferred input for FFXIV. Which is why I own 3 of them over the years. Two of which are still in the their box, brand new.

If you're wondering, I have several controllers. Stream Controller is my all-time favorite controller. I've been using Steam Controller for 5 years, across various games. I have an Xbox 360 & Xbox One controller; both of with I hate. Because I do development work they are needed for controller testing. My second favorite controller is Logitech F710 because I prefer PS3/4 style controllers for most of my games. I also have PS3 & PS4 I don't use often because they sometime require various special controller emulation software, depending on the game/title.

Move your party list somewhere easier to access than the top left of the screen. I keep mine in the bottom next to my hotbars.

Also as others have said, get in the habit of reaching over to F1-F4, F2 and F3 are the buttons you'll be using the most.

Personally i cant agree with the F1-F4 stuff. I realize that people can play with that, but i dont understand it at all. Are you guys clickers?

I have all my abilities on the surrounding keys of WASD + the shift variations and on the extra two buttons on my mouse. I have my mouse cursor always near the party list on the far left side, because i dont need to click anything else than on my teammates and to rotate the camera. Using the F keys would move my hand too far away from WASD and that is an unneeded timeloss.

It's never been a problem for me.

If he's concerned at all about wasd it probably means he's a keyboard mover...different strokes and all that.

How else does one move on PC then? Holding down the left and right mouse buttons constantly? No thanks.
