Though, sounds like you weren't really enjoying it to begin with, so that's fine. Not sure what to say about problems with the UI and map in particular, since there's a lot of customization options to the UI (heck, Squeenix has a meaty Official UI Guide on it[na.finalfantasyxiv.com]) and the map shows you what you need.
In all my enthousiasm I just bought it with all expansions and a sub, I was hoping for a great experience. I don't think I actually enjoyed a single quest about this game. New players get overwhelmed with a ton of menu's, to much information in once. And it keeps adding on boring fetch quests. The fact everything feels instanced takes away from the experience, so many load-screens. Even in the first big city.
The UI is a mess, it's horrible. I don't want to look up a guide about how I can make my UI clean. It should feel intuitive straight of the bad, but this isn't. It's a fail in any possible aspect.
You might be right, however this just feels like an interactive book. Not the experience I'm after. It's a single player game with a few online elements.
They should have said, "you might as well read a book"
Thinking to go ESO or back to WOW, waiting for New Word to release... I hope that one won't be a walking simulator like FFXIV
It's... a numbered part of the Final Fantasy series, a long running RPG series first and foremost, so not sure what you were really expecting there? It is basically a traditional single player Final Fantasy RPG with MMO elements added to it, including options to run later dungeon content with NPCs and a number of non-dungeon levelling options if you don't want to party up with people.
I can agree a little, I guess the biggest issue is the MSQ, even though you are a fan of the game, I can almost guess you would agree that the MSQ is way to dull, and that this is the sole reason newer players get bored with the game super fast. The dialogue is terrible, and keeps going on. It's not even well written. If I look it up online now, everyone complains about the msq.
The MSQ gets way better once you get into the expansions. Heavensward, the fist expansion was considered by many to be one of the best Final Fantasy stories until Shadowbrings blew it out of the water.
It gets much better paced later, but if you don't want to wait to get to the better stuff then you do you.
You're not criticising the game, you're merely calling it trash. You come here spouting vitriol about wasting money on something you could've tried out for free and expect to be treated like a connoisseur of MMOs whose opinion is absolute
