one is not better than the other it comes down to personal preference.

do you want to micro manage a fairy and heal with heavy use of shields or do you want to heal with HoTs and a whole barrage of direct healing spells and no fairy to manage since white mage gimmick is the lily system which is far more simple than the fairy.

Bare in mind Astrologian is obtained at level 50 whereas WHM and SCH are obtained at 30..

Of the 2 options, I prefer WHM of SCH.
But like others have said, AST is my favourite healer by a long shot.

WHM is a healer with big numbers on their healing. Less gimmicks and other 'tricks' to play around with.

WHM is all about direct heals and mitigation, while SCH has a more distributed approach, with the fairy handling general upkeep while you do barriers and the big heals yourself.

WHM, easily. I have played all of them at 80 and SCH is by far the least enjoyable of the 3 healers. I know it's subjective, but compared to the other two SCH just doesn't feel intuitive or fun to play at all. The only reason I even bothered getting it to 80 was because I like SMN and they share the same XP gains. WHM used to be my favorite healer, but I'm swinging more towards AST at the moment. They have more tools and can bounce between heals and shields as needed.

i play all of them and astro is my favorite atm. Only because i can work around another healer. If i see whitemage on the team i switch to shields. If i see a scholar i switch to regen. But if you want fat heals pick white. scholar is okay, but cant beat white.

I've played both. I really like Scholar a lot though. The faerie pet makes healing a little easier as it will cast heals on it's own for you and your party members. Plus a lot of the scholar's heals will give a damage buffer, making it somewhat easier to keep your friend's alive as you heal them up. I'm sure it balances out between White mage and scholar but for me Scholar feels easier.
