When is a new FF MMO game coming out?

The game has been out for a decade. When is a new one coming out? Not trying to be controversial... I just want a new game and love the FF franchise. XIV was a flop for me. After the remake from initial fail it was turned too close to WoW for me and I've been waiting a long time now. I actually liked the game more before ARR.

Which wouldn't be the case if people stopped playing the old game. Which would lead to the creation of a new game. You think behind the scenes a baseline isn't already in the works to replace the old game? Do you think that FFXV's comrades wasn't to test things out for something else?

There has been no maneuver. It is irrelevant. Attempting to bait me doesn't make it any more relevant. FFXI released May 16, 2002. FFXIV released September 20,2010. FFXIV has already been out for 2 years and 7 months longer than Square's own MMO upgrade.

Your reading comprehension is terrible. Why do you suddenly think 5 years has anything to do with anything? What would new content be for a car? Where would your character (car) travel to a new location and fight new monsters (roads and new scenery). Tech to tech comparison. Not rocket surgery.

So you havee said that you don't believe a company knowing the life of their previous game who started a new game which had a hard reset that later seen success that has already lasted longer than the life of their previous game before releasing a new game wouldn't have learned anything from their previous experience and be better prepared for their next game? But I'm the one who is dumb? Do you believe that if they were to release a new game in 2 years from now that they are starting from 0 right now? Knowing that in 2010 ps3 was out and 2 console generations have been swapped during that duration. Knowing that the technical limitations of the time the game was created are still there a decade later. You still make such a bold claim? How many new phones have people gone through in that time? What technology do you own that you still use 10 years later? Nah fam my nokia is lit. Retro is in.

To answer the question, OP, probably not for the better part of a decade. 14 is still immensely popular and is only continuing to grow in popularity, and there is a reason for that. Just because you, in your personal subjective opinion that has no basis in reality beyond your own desire to have what you consider “modern” tech at al times, that does not mean 14 is outdated and due to be replaced.

14 continues to see its active sub counts increase, the expanded free trial has helped bring up the player base by nearly 50% in this year alone, the next expansion is due next year, and several more at minimum are planned, and if the trend continues, 14 is pegged to be the MMO that officially Dethrones WoW.

There is no good reason from any standpoint, and no your personal opinions are not a good reason, to release a third final fantasy MMO in the near future and have it be “the thing that replaces 14”. Because no, people will not all jump ship, because people play 14 because they like 14. Some will, but for most it will be pointless and a slap in the face to shaft 14 after years of success and investment just because some arbitrary standard of “modernness” needs to be maintained.

If 14 is that “out-dated” to you, then go find something else to play, and when the last story expansion is released for 14 and the game drops its subscription in favor of a B2P model, then you can come back here and start seriously inquiring about the next FF MMO.

I appreciate your opinion, however a pandemic and lock downs can explain that. I haven't played 14 in years. I have not given an opinion. A decade is a long time. A decade is too long for a game to still be viable or enjoyable. My inquiry is sincere. Your opinion on the relevancy of dated tech is just that, an opinion. Only over the passed 20 years have mmos existed, half of which FFXIV has existed and been active. People play 14 because there is nothing else and gaming in general has fallen in quality greatly over the last 10 years. Not opinions just facts. Simpler games, dlc, skins, beta testing disguised as "Early Access". Not opinions. Obvious statement is obvious... of course not "all" people will jump ship. There is never a 100% anything ever. There will however be new customers which will outnumber the old which always happens when a new game releases. Not an opinion. People pre-order anything these days. Only WoW has lasted longer successfully and they required a complete overhaul. Look to them for how that is going these days. Remember the lock downs are artificially inflating the sub numbers right now. A combination of boredom, lack of content and nostalgia. You sure typed a lot to say nothing at all. All you accomplished is saying that you like the game.
