FINAL FANTASY XIV Online

How do you level an archer without burning out?
In open world, my activities are FATE quests, main quest, which involves running from A - B then do some fights. During the fight I spam arrow skills, 1 2 3 4 rise & repeat. If it's a FATE boss type of quest, the activity is the same thing, or the boss is too strong and I die. No one to party with, so I can't solo it.

In dungeons all I do is follow the tank, stand back, spam skills 1234 rise & repeat. There's no dodging, no comboing (unless I'm missing something here), enemies aggro to the tank, and I can basically semi afk spam numbers on the keyboard and watch animations. I don't need to be alert, be aware of surrounding.

I'm at level 33 Archer, and the game is still very confusing to me. My goal at the moment is to get to Lv 50, then start Samurai. Because Archer feels so lifeless right now.

Why archer?

Also you can move constantly as an archer, mix that with the slow and root and you can kite eternal.

Make sure to do your class quest and the MSQ, because you should be upgrading to Bard now.

Anyway, if you want to play Samurai at 50, I highly suggest you level pugilist/monk right now, because they share gear until 70, aside from two monk artifact sets.

Since Archer/Bard and Dancer are support DPS, it is always more fun to level it together with a tank or melee DPS so that you won't get burn out/get bored. Since I main tank, as much as there's a lot of pressure and need to be wary of surroundings, it's always more fun and kept me awake. At least Bard will have more things to do around level 50 with different songs and buffs.

You can also change to Dark Knight (start at level 30) when you reach Ishgard before changing to Samurai as well.

MSQ rule supreme, followed by doing your roulettes and grinding dungeons. There is no replacement for these.

I mean... sure. Some do take longer to unlock than just breezing through that level range in the roulette.
Archer 1-50 is hell.

I started XIV as archer and mained the job until 70'ish (as bard ofc). Never really felt hindered by my job choice. MSQ and daily roulettes, fates when I see other players nearby. Easy! You get more than enough buttons to press once you unlock the songs and get some instant attacks to weave, by 50 it's plenty busy.

Bards like all the other jobs start off slow in the 1-50 leveling. Its one of the few drawbacks of this game and something that should change in the future where 1-50 combat needs to feel more engaging by giving you more of your core abilities earlier.

That said, Bard doesn't really have combos or a traditional rotation like the other jobs outside of rotating through your song buffs as the class is mostly proc based off of your main abilities and weaving in OGCD skills. It gets pretty busy at level 80.

That said, if that's not your thing then sure unlock samurai and try it. SAM is a ton of fun and its my favorite job next to monk and dragoon. SAM is also probably the easiest dps job to play in the game right now as its rotation is very straight forward/static and flows almost perfectly. Its hard to mess it up and its not reliant on buff timers/procs at all so downtime between boss phases practically has no impact on them.

Keep in mind though they are a purely selfish dps job with no raid buffs so if a end game group already has say a black mage in their party they are likely gonna skip you and pick a job with a raid buff. Personally I've never had issues getting end game groups or forming statics for my SAM, but its certainly something to keep in mind.

It isn't. It's one of the quickest dps classes to level. It gets aoe attack very early on and is strong attack aswell shredding trough dungeon mobs when having proper tank
