It's an MMO, there's thousands of achievements. Steam only really uses Playstation/Xbox like achievements, 30-40 with a "platinum" achieve. Just having a list of thousands of achieves that you literally can't complete 100% would be really weird

Just because another MMO has something, doesn't mean all should.

You don't get anything in game for completing Steam achievements. You only ever get bragging rights.

I'd rather Square Enix focus on things that actually give me something in game rather than something that would only give me out of game bragging rights.

It's not even less features, what good does it do me to record achievements outside of the game? Idk about you but I don't care about achievements and it's not bragging rights because no one gives a ♥♥♥♥ about eachothers achievements. Especially in an MMO because they're mostly time based achieves, not skill

Oooh EA has steam achievements in their Star Wars MMO hmhm yes they certainly want you to feel that you gained pride and accomplishment, does the steam achievements give you a mount? Titles? Minions? No? Then it is pointless to have a 2nd layer of achievements that just makes your e-peen look bigger to people that don't care.

I'm not sure about the Steam achievements, but the in-game achievements actually do offer rewards. Including actual cash-shop currency.

The major downside about having steam achievements, is a lot of FFXIV players won't be able to unlock them; SE has forced it so you bought the game non-steam, you play non-steam, and vice versa.

If Steam achievements were a thing, I'd love to get them, but the reality is, SE prevents me from doing so as my account is 'external' from steam, and I'm not looking to waste time and money on doing all I've done, again - as well as splurging on the double-ups of expansions etc. >~<

Whilst it would be nice, it would literally only benefit those who can play FFXIV through steam, and atm, most of those are trial players too; those who wish to explore and have a taste of FFXIV without paying for sub.

I think what he meant in general, is that most steam achievements offer little to nothing, besides an actual achievement.
However, with MMOs; certain ones have achievements linked to the game, and the game offers the rewards; not the steam achievement themselves. (As in, Steam would only be able to provide stuff that could be use on Steam, rather than ingame.)

That being said, I've not tried SWTOR on Steam, so I wouldn't know how their achievements and rewards are set up; but by default, most of the time it's just a showy achievement, with ingame rewards being provided for the ingame achievement, not the steam one.

The idea of achievements came from consoles and the rabid mentality of “if I’m not getting a brief bloop noise and an immersion breaking pop up telling me I completed an arbitrarily defined task, I can’t fully enjoy the game” came straight from consoles as well.

You being here going “We need steam achievements!!!” and then insulting people who say “no” makes you the biggest “console peasant” on this forum lmao.

I grew up on consoles, and we didn't need achievements back then. Your sense of "pride and accomplishment" came from beating the game. Didn't need a pop up to tell us we did good, we just knew we did. "Good job, you beat Mother Brain" "Yes, thank you, I can see that, stop covering my UI, Zebes is about to explode."

Really? Steam Achievements gives you rewards? Like what exactly? Does it give exclusive items in-game? If I know so little then educate me.

I think you misread my post, I know the in-game achievements gives rewards, my question to OP was "Does STEAM achievements give mounts, Titles, or minions?" if not then there is no point in having a 2nd layer of achievements unless you wanna stroke your own ego some more.
