FINAL FANTASY XIV Online

Way too many cutscenes
This is one of the best MMORPGs ever made, but the insane amount of cutscenes just becomes annoying after a while. I mean some cutscenes are fine, but I feel this game has way too many, and that they used cutscenes as a filler material. There's no way to pause the cutscenes, what if my phone rings or I get called away? Beyond that, it's a pretty good game.

Anyway, I'm halfway through Stormblood. Once I finish the main story up to Shadowbringers, I'm going to unsub and just resub for one month when the new expansions come. I started playing Elder Scrolls Online and really like it. And the best thing, no cutscenes.

The cutscenes can be "paused" by just not advancing the dialogue. It's not perfect but it does let you watch them at your own pace if you're a multitasker.

The worst thing, get your wallet ready because unless you sub to ESO, the game is 100% not worth advancing in.

Hidden behind a pay wall is a crafting bad, xp gain, gold gain, and all dlc's, etc. LMAO That and combat is so stale and boring, only 5 skills and 9 out of 10 people never use 2 skill sets unless their raiding......maybe...

Hell, i finished the game by mashing 3 skills.

Great story though.

I see you just started ESO. I remember my first time, back when it was buy and sub but, i do remember the return of buy to play and how it felt, free and open, and then you level more and advance more and realize, you level really slow and your inventory is ALWAYS full due to no crafting bag's, and being insanely poor early on, etc.

It's the "high" of the "free-ish" state to play for the game. And yes, I do own the game and have multiple 50 with GS's over 300+.

It's easier to play a game you already bought and not spend a dime then it is to spend money on a game monthly and play it.

But, as you hit 30+ in ESO you'll be running to the website to put in that CC info to sub up real quick.

Me personally, since they both force you to sub to even enjoy the game, I chose the lesser of the two evils and the one with more content than the other. Better story, better dev team, better support, content, content cycle, etc.

Not telling you not to play ESO, actually I suggest anybody try it, minus it's flaws it is a really great game. Just crappy practices. Not as in depth as FF XIV and at 50+ you find yourself "space barring" through some of that dialogue.

A man can only hear Jim Cummings voice so many time..........he voices 90% of the cast asides from main and some side.

just wondering but are you trying to convince me, or yourself?

I ask because when someone is this passionate against something other than their own product, beliefs, etc, it's usually because they are insecure in their own beliefs.

the option for dialogue is not very often tho, they seriously need to add a pause button to cutscenes. Other than that, i got no complaints about this game.

Just turn off cutscene auto-advance.

Please don't be one of those people who don't read and become really dumb as hell.

Maybe next time before you try and insult and get hat one up you so desperately crave, you could actually try reading for once.

I got money riding you only read the first few lines, thought it was a dig at you, you got offended, commented with a dumb ass comment without reading what I even put LMAO.

I play both you turd. Been playing both, FF in 2013 and ESO in 2014 to the current date.

Again, let's see how you do when you're doing a dungeon in ESO with an empty inventory just to stop at the second boss to dump a lot of good stuff because...you know....ESO PLUS, THAT 14.99$ A MONTH sub that remidies the lack of gold, xp, and crafting bags.

And people complained that FF XIV only gives you 0/800 inventory slots. ESO starts at 0/60.

If you want I can get in ESO real quick and meet up with you too, i actually have a lot of good stuff I been wanting to give to somebody. Here's the easter egg to see if anybody even reads this at all. And it's a mega server too.

My point, you'll still need to spend money, a ton, or sub in ESO at later levels to even enjoy the game. The voice acting is NOT like SWTOR which i see you are used too.

SWTOR hired 10000000 voice actors. ESO hired 10 named ones and just Steve Blum and Jim Cummings to do every single side character out there. If your expecting that kind of level of voice acting and dare i say story, you're out of luck. SWTOR has it beat in that regard hands down.

In my opinion and experience, after playing SWTOR since 2012, FF since 2013 and ESO since 2014, I can tell you I, as in me, not everybody else, started to prefer reading for a minute rather than listen to somebody drone on for over 20 minutes.

The only reason i give FF the one up is because you can skip any cut scene and go view it in the Inn at your leasure, something both SWTOR and ESO need desperately but since 100% of ESO's dialogue is NOT in cutscenes, it will never happen and SWTOR is failing as sad as it is to say.

There's no fight here. I love ESO, FF, and SWTOR, their my 3 rotating mmo's. Spend a few months with ESO and you'll be begging for features from FF...like a market board(public one).

so i'm a turd now, is it? cause I raised one minor complaint about Final Fantasy 14? Nevermind I said it's the best MMORPG out there. FF14 and ESO are BOTH great games.

But hey, keep on replying, you are only embarassing yourself. I've reported your comments as harassment.

doesn't sound like FFXIV is for you, as at its core its JRPG that means story and lots of it. That will never change I played ESO early on and wasn't a fan i wanted to play a bow build and turns out to be effective bow builds didnt actually use bows, might have changed now i have played since launch.

Point is play what you like if the core of FF doesn't float your boat play ESO.

Another toxic player. It's really funny how you guys actively drive away new players, and then you whine "Where did all the players go?"

I've reported your post, as well.

So you report anybody you disagree with?

I'm 100% sure everybody here dislikes you and it's the same reason you are having problems in game too.

And you don't need me to say it, look at all your replies from people here.

You call us toxic while you spew toxicity and get your threads shut down.

I'm reporting you for trolling, as has many, many others here have already done.

Your post history shows you bashing the game and calling everybody who does not agree with you toxic and you report them. It's pretty sad. All your attempts to troll are getting really sad.

I mean, do I need to link them? I'm sure people can just click your profile and look at your posting history.

This game, clearly is not a fit for you and any and all attempts at new threads and comments will now and forever be stained in the annuals of steam ff xiv forum history.

Best thing to do to save face is to change your name and pray nobody sees your post history.

Maybe be nicer next time. Or are you going to just say ESO and SWTOR(a game you said had active nazi's recruiting on the fleet)and(developers abandoned the game and it's dead), are better. I can link that too. See? Hypocrisy.

That's...not toxic. And he's not "driving away new players" he's offering alternatives if this game isn't for you.

Now I know ML hasn't the slightest clue what 'toxic' means.
