DPS Meter
I cannot find a straight answer. Is it ok to have a DPS meter (I understand you aren't supposed to use results), I just want to see how I am doing in relation to the group. It's third party running while online, so just don't want to end up banned or something.

Yeah that part has been a consistent theme in what I have found so far. No interest beyond knowing how I am doing.

Do you have one you recommend?

I'll recomand to you to go on Youtube 1st and look up the guide how to set it up cuz it's not like WoW just to download it from some where and put in game files. You have download Advance Combat tracker, set it up there and mess whit chat options in game

There's only 1 kind, ACT, you can google it. As for the overlay, there're several of them. I used to have Kagerou as my overlay, it has a lot of customization options too.

It has been told in an interview, that using ACT is always a grey area issue, you can use it to self improve and to practice how to deal the most damage but if you are gonna use it for malicious intent and ruin another players day in game because they are slightly underperforming then don't be surprised that you get the ban hammer. It's totally fine to use it, don't be a tryhard like those people in WoW that calls out and singles out a person.
The straight answer is no.
It is not OK to use a DPS meter in FFXIV.
It is an offence that you can be banned for.

But...

As you will see, many people do use them and do not get banned.
Keeping the results to yourself or sharing with other like minded individuals should keep you out of SE's crosshairs.

Make sure to be as toxic as possible in everyy dungeon and announce you're using DPS meter.

Incorrect.
It is you who is misinformed on this particular matter.
The TOS is crystal clear about it[i.postimg.cc]

The official statement about using it is that you can't.
Yoshida himself, however, said that you won't be banned as long as you don't say anything or shame someone for low DPS.
So, the statement is true.

Of course its the hacker noob who DESPERATELY NEEDS to mod the game so he can see elitist information...

How about just play the game in a way that DOESNT violate TOS..???????

Hacker huh? That's an interesting word that has lost meaning.

All the information that ACT uses is taken from the logs ingame, in the battle tab chat window to be precise.
All the information is available to you without the meter, what it does is some calculations.
It has nothing to do with hacking.

SE has a don't ask don't tell policy for mods. While they are not allowed they won't bother you if you use them, but you cannot use them to harm other players.

No posting dps rankings and talking ♥♥♥♥ about poor performers or stuff like that, it's very bannable.

It's kinda ironic, I ask a question - and the folks go toxic. Tell me again how it is the meter that would cause the issue and not people just being asses like they are here?
