I Don't Play WoW but The movement in this is slow
I know they i guess upgraded with the Aether Currents But like why that Hard limit to flying? especially because its only in certain areas or in stormblood and shadowbringer is it all you can kind of fly. Because the mounts become kind of benign in terms of "flight" at a certain point to me and it's kind of dull. Like did they ever expand it to more freedom for flight or has it all just kind of been this "find and unlock flying in this one area" Like i wouldn't mind as much as like if you completed one expansions MSQ you can fly anywhere in those areas or like if complete one or 2 specific quest in the different areas you can fly there or something. idk i would just enjoy exploring more and back tracking if i could actually just fly lol. like it's so limited i dont buy mounts so i don't know how a "flying mount" differs from just a regular mount really unless its the same thing of needing aether currents in this only area to fly

Every mount can fly. They are adding flight in ARR areas next patch AFAIK.

Personally I prefer this than buying a license in order to ride mounts and then buy another license just so I can use flying mounts and then buy yet ANOTHER license just to get a weather training license in order to fly in certain areas, oh yeah on top of that you have to buy the mount along side to buying the license.

Yup, it was a huge gold sink last time I remembered, WoW worked with a copper, silver, gold currency and you needed gold for the license and mount, the flying and weather training licenses were charged in the thousands of gold, you could try and make it slightly cheaper if you have high reputation with the clan/faction that is selling you the license but it is still in the thousands. I also forgot to mention there is a mount speed boost license also that is charged in gold.

i think the cost is low now unless its based on the type of mount which would be a vanity thing at point i guess

I think you misunderstood aetheric currents. They are just a spots you have to visit and interact with in order to become available freely fly in that zone (plus you have to do some quests). They are there to ensure that you take your time exploring the ground of the zone.

You can pretty much unlock flying in about 20 minutes in a zone (with a few exceptions that may take longer since they are more complicated areas like the sea of clouds).
I don't really understand what's the problem with this system, other than being lazy.
But tbh you won't really go back to most areas after the msq if you don't do gathering or hunt so they could even skip it.

The license prices go by
Level 20 (allowed to use mounts) - 4 gold
Level 40 (Speed boost) - 50 gold
Level 60 (able to fly) - 250 gold
Level 70 (weather training) - 5000 gold
Level 80 (flight boost) - 5000 gold

This is only licenses you still need to buy your starter ground and starter flight mount since they are seperate. I dunno about you but I'd prefer to explore the world and collect aether currents than cough up gold that you need to farm for. As a newbie, enemies drop copper coins at the start and hopefully junk gear that would at least sell for 10-20 silver.

So yeah I prefer aether current hunting.

Maybe not msq, but job quests, leveling other jobs, the hunt, gathering, beast tribe quests, some sidequest, special fates, sightseeing log. So there are plenty of reasons to revisit the zones.

At least finding the aether currents won't be needed for flight in the ARR areas, as they've already announced that all you will need to fly there is to clear the story quest "The Ultimate Weapon", nothing more.

yea but it's only in specific zone i'm asking why not each zone have that available then or something that opens up flight more.

Literally the only areas currently without flight are the ARR areas, the cities, housing disctricts and the PvP hub, Wolves' Den Pier. The ARR areas are getting flight in August and it makes sense for flight to not be possible in the cities, housing districts and Wolves' Den Pier, although one city will technically allow flight, and that's Mor Dhona.

20mins lol think your being very optimistic there. Most zones have aether currents you can't reach until later into the MSQ, the quests for the rest don't unlock until further into the MSQ too, I'd say it's at least a couple of hours per zone to unlock flying, especially the earlier ones as the final unlock happens with the last MSQ quest as you leave the zone.

Well i assumed others do it just like me, unlocking flying after finishing the msq in that zone. But even as you progress through the place you can find most of the currents.
So yeah, it's about 20-30 means that you only have to dedicate to the currents and the quests, assuming you have collected quite a few of them progressing through the zone which you should cuz it feels like many of them are placed in deliberately obvious positions along your journey.
