State of the population on EU

New player here, how is the population on EU? I heard it's pretty dead but It's possible I have been lied to on the internet. Is it decent size?

Also while I'm already taking your time I might as well ask other stuff

What's a good starting solo class that's good at killing and surviving?

Can't speak for the EU servers, but all classes are equally capable of doing solo content, so pick a class and role that interests you.

...Dead? Try Place with content or a different time... It happens that I have a hard time getting to a NPC just because there are so many people there, that I cant even see it.

And https://ffxivcensus.com/ is bull... I ignored half of SB for most of the time doing Tribal-,Side and Raid-Quests. Leveling all Classes and Fishing... So much fishing....
So obviously "I", who played almost dayly for 2 years now, would not be part of those "6000" active Players... Because I didn't had the Mount until just a bit ago...?

FFXIV is everything but not dead :) Many ppl! Most ppl are not playing on Steam. So there are much more ppl!

Thanks for the answers, yeah I heard FFXIV census is not accurate that's why I've decided to ask here. I'm happy it's alive even on the EU side. Time to jump ship from BDO.

I started off as a Healer which was good for a lot of the game's early content but the more into it I got I felt the need to switch to another class therefore I became a Summoner which IMHO is very enjoyable to play as, especially when played with others.

I found the longer I played as a Healer everyone was focused on me, if somebody wiped during a dungeon, trial whatever I would likely get the blame but fortunately it didn't happen very often if at all with me. Still that said I didn't like the responsibility that comes with the Role.

You've been gravely misinformed. You can't fart without stinking up a wall of people all around you at any time of the day and night. It's not uncommon to get 24man DF raids at silly'o'clock in the morning (even if that is a horrible time to try - and will obviously be much slower than peak time). Go to Limsa Lominsa at any time of the day and all you'll see is a mountain of people going about their business.

Obviously relative per region/server. If ANY of the data-centers or individual servers where dead, they wouldn't be splitting them this expansion.

I started mine free trial and 2 servers were full.
Ok I though to myself I'll start to play on 3rd.
I had to wait 2 minutes in queue to enter the server.

If game has couple of full servers and remaining ones are far enough from being empty than game is not dead.

There is a limit of how many people are able to be logged in on a server at one time. That's a completely different thing from sever population... You will usually get that message during prime time in the evenings when everyone is playing.

there is around 100k active EU players currently. and all are on the same datacenter. once they split this this amount will be lower per datacenter left of course. so roughly 60k active per datacenter if we are generous.

far less players than NA or JP but far from "dead" i would say.

I can definitely say that EU is very active and alive.

Just take those numbers and multiply them by 7, it's closer to what it actually is then.
