Free trial - talking in chat

I got the free trial demo a couple days ago, and my goodness, the exp boost is crazy. 100%, im already level 16 heh.

Anyways I noticed I am not seeing any chat in the general log, I googled and figured free trial accounts could not /tell /yell or shout, but does that also mean I can not see others' chat as well? Feels like I am playing solo, which, I am okay with for now, since I know I am doing totally newbie content.

There usually isn't too much going on in the chat unless you are in a major city or there's a hunt going on in your zone.

Once you get to instanced dungeons, you will be able to use party chat to talk with your group... Although most people don't talk much in dungeons either.

Most chat occurs among friends in Free Companies.

And yes, the EXP boost is crazy... I'm leveling an alt and currently at the Lvl. 35 MSQ, but my character is already lvl. 52 in his job (plus level 30 in two others). Definitely experiment with other jobs as you progress, the EXP you earn through MSQ is enough to level several jobs.

The EXP boost is probably for joining a preferred world (low pop). You should be able to see others chat, they probably just aren't talking.
