FINAL FANTASY XIV Online

Launcher ain't working? Can't play
Wanted to play for a bit, but all I get at launcher is a bunch of errors like:

"A connection error has occurred. Please try again later."
"A System Error Has Occured: -2146697208"
"Unable to complete version check"
"The server is not responding"

Is there something going on?

I'm in the Netherlands and also have problems with the launcher. Forums and lodestone etc. work intermittently

its funny that i used german VPN to launch game and it worked

im also getting errors on the login page. Lodestone sites dont work either. system error -2146697211 https system error

Hey, that's pretty interesting! I feel like a VPN might just be what should help with these connection issues, if you don't want to wait. Guess I might just try it out a bit later, if the issues still aren't resolved by then.

yea, i can confirm that it works, i managed to reinstall ff14 with launcher and VPN enabled with no issues - but i dont really want to play like this all the time

I went to Norton 360 and turned on VPN, that worked for me.

Poland here, same issue. Tried both cleaning IE cache and whiteliste in antivirus.

Same here for my friend and myself, we are also from Germany, getting the same error and a failed version check error afterwards.

Had this issue also....fixed it by using a vpn and launching the launcher and logging into the launcher...

Once logged in I was able to close the vpn and hit the play button. The launcher still will kick an error then if you disable the vpn but the game WILL start and from there you can run the game no issues.

I think its an Vodafone problem, i also use Vodafone/Kabel Deutschland. I Hate this company more and more, it`s not the first time that this happened

If it was a Vodafone problem, people outside Germany wouldn't be facing the same issue. There's people from Istanbul, Belgium and Netherlands reporting the same issues you are facing. Using a VPN to log into the launcher and press the Play button works. After that you can disconnect the VPN again. Works like a charm. If you cannot wait for Square Enix to resolve the problems, use this method.

I can vouch for this, as Vodafone is in Australia as well, still seems like a regional issue, I play on Chaos (more specifically Omega) and am having no issues with the launcher or logging in, even Lodestone is loading fine for me.
