Can I somewhere download the files without subscription?
Like its really putting me off, the game has like what 50 Gigabites of data? I have to download it all over again which is no problem, but it will take around 2 days. I wanted to preload it because I will have time in 10 days from now as well as 2 days right now.
But I ain't gonna activate my subscription 10 days before playing just because Square Enix decided "Well if you want to patch, you better have an active subscription" Even after I ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ bought the game already and played it for months. So don't come at me with "Bandwidth costs money" because its like what 3 cents?

Can I download the game files somewhere else? EU Client.

Actually, installed game only takes about 30GB.

Well thats still a day and I won't pay 10 days of play time just for half a day of playing.

You can't pay for 10 days of play time anyway, there are 3 options: 30,90 or 180 days.

Maybe get a faster connection? Must be hell to wait so long, a lot of the games I'm playing are +20Gb, heck doom is even 70Gb!

And to get back to XIV, it takes about 30 minutes for me to download/instal. The max download speed is around 8Mb/s.
Well unless of course you have very slown download speed of your ISP.

As I already said, I'm having a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ slow download speed aka. mine is 1/10 of your speed.
I would do a bunch of stuff up to murder to somehow get a better speed, but its not aviable where I live.

I pay for a 30 day subscription and 10 days of those I'd use for 2 days of downloading and 8 days of working (I'm working on a ship, there is no internet).
So yeah I'd pay for 10 days without me having the aviability of the game just to download the patches prior to my vacation time.

As far as I know you don't have to have an account to install the game. . Although I purchased directly form SE instead of from Steam.

Well you don't have to have a sub to install it either if I remember correctly.

Well I can basically start the client. But that client is only around 200 Megabytes. I'm missing all the other game data and it won't let me download without a sub.

Yeah you need to login, if your sub has ran out it will tell you that 'no valid service account with sub ...' something along those lines.

But you need an active sub to actually log in and to download.

I don't know why you can't download without sub though, that's a bit weird.

Should have bought Retail so you only need to download a smaller fragment of the Updated patches instead of the entire thing all over again.

Why? Retail is the same launcher, both needs to update the same amount and for that you need to login and have active subscription.

Nahh man before I'm gonna buy that game retail I'll rather drive over to a friend of mine 20 kilometres away, who got a 100k Connection.

you realize theres a free trial version right, which has the majority of the files (it lacks those from expansions, which will be downloaded after you start paying a sub)

retail gives you all the based game + expansion files (to a certain Patch Version) which saves up time + Data cap limit -.- The only thing to download is just the latest patches.
Which would you rather have?
Download the entire Game + updated Patches in return of eating all your Data and LONG ass Download time
OR
Install the Game from Retail and save up time only downloading the latest patch files.
