Any way to get Ala Mhigan Earrings now?
I recently bought Complete Edition as well as preordered Stormblood here on Steam, but it turns out I can't use any of the content because my account is listed as a Standard one rather than a Steam one, due to me having played a non-Steam version of the game before and Square Enix choosing to not have a unified PC account for whatever reason.
In other words, I will be trying to get a refund since I can't activate my keys, but that would also mean losing the preorder stuff, including the Ala Mhigan Earrings.

Is there some way I can get them if I buy the non-Steam version of Stormblood, or will I be permanently missing out on that sweet EXP bonus since the game has launched officially now?

1. They didn't choose this, it's how it has to be. Trying to paint them a villain over your mistake is a bit crude.

2. It's too late to preorder again. (Though why you didn't attempt to enter in your keys sooner...) However, what you could do is this:

- Order your new copies from the SE Store.
- Explain the situation and that you mistakenly preordered on Steam.
- Show them the reciept and everything.
- Request a proper pre-order code from them over the mistake.

They'll probably hook you up.

I didn't enter the codes because I didn't know I had to. I bought the games on Steam, it said everything was installed and I could play the game just fine, so I figured everything was in order.
It wasn't until now, when I was trying to access content that's not included in the original game, that I found out that I in fact had a Standard account and that I had been using that with a Steam overlay rather than the Steam version of the game that I had purchased.

Sure, at the end of the day this might be my fault for not doing extensive research beforehand, but it's honestly pretty ridiculous that something like this can even occur. I should be able to just buy a game here and then play it, without having to spend hours troubleshooting, contacting support, getting refunds and whatnot.
If they didn't have several accounts types, or at least let me change account type to Steam account or transfer characters to another service account, I wouldn't be having this issue. But that's not possible, apparently.

Well, a lesson to be learned. Steam doesn't automatically somehow get access to your MMO account's billing and status pages on another website. :alphys:

If you didn't refund yet, this dude might be able to help you:

If you still have code I will trade you a pc version for steam version of code.

Wish I did, but since I wasn't able to find someone willing to trade, I ended up returning it for a refund.
I would gladly buy your non-Steam preorder code through Paypal though, if you're willing to sell it.
