Starting New Character

Hello,

If I complete main story line with one character can I than start a new character on same account and avoid having to unlock all the content again? Or do I have to go through main story every time I start a new character? Im not talking about starting a new job Im talking about an entire new character on same account...

New character starts the game at the beginning. Why do you want to start a new one? It is possible to rename and remake your character if you want to, they're both paid services but at least then you won't be starting from scratch.

New Characters start at zero, with nothing unlocked or cleared.

If you are asking this because you want to redesign your Character, you dont have to start again.
There is an ingame item, a potion, called fantasia.
You are able to buy it from the shop, but you get one by completing the "A Realm Reborn" MSQ aswell.
So you can Change your Character completely, for a Namechange you need to visit the SE-Shop.

Yep, there's only 2 reasons to start a new character as far as I can see. The first is to replay the MSQ and other quests, but at this point that only matters for the ARR MSQ and a smattering of side quests. New Game + allows you to replay Heavensward and onwards at any point without having to start over.

The other reason is for more storage space, as a 2nd character gives you an additional 2 retainers, chocobo saddlebag, glamour dresser, and your base inventory. However, transferring items to your alt is... a little complicated. You can't trade to your alt obviously as both need to be online to do that, and you can't moogle mail your alt as they need to be on your friends list to mail them, currently not possible afaik. You either need a friend to help transfer, or an FC, preferably a private one, which you can use the FC chest to transfer.
