What are red quest marks with a key on mobs?
I'm a relatively new player and just noticed this on a couple of mobs. Looks like red quest mark with a "plus" and some kind of key. What is this? Oo

And another question I encountered just now. Is it possible to get random buffs during questing? Cause my character had 815 hp at some point, yet some time later I noticed it dropped to 785. I'm didn't eat any food or changed any equipment. The only thing that changed is that I traveled to another region—to Gridania from Ul'dah. Could it be that Immortal Flames give some buff in their region as a member? I'm confused. But randomly changing stats in a MMO really bother me =\

huh, well if I'm right that symbol means your the wrong class to fight that mob

(so no fighting that as a miner)

and as for the HP, is that ALL you did? no changing classes or changing of equipment?
does the buff still happen when you change locations?

Nope, the symbol remains even if I change back to lvl 29 Lancer =\

As for HP. Yeah, I definitely did not change anything. Just got back to Ul'dah to check - no effect on HP. Also, I tried eating the stuff I currently got and yeah - got those 815 again. The problem is, I also never eaten anything since yesterday, so no idea where that buff could come from =\

Is there maybe some table how much hp on what lvl a "naked" class should have? Cause I'm worried something might've gotten bugged in my char =\

Alright, so first things first here. There is no such thing as a naked class. You have your combat classes, your jobs (next tier in a combat class), and then crafters and gatherers. When you switch between classes your health with fluctuate as not all classes have the same HP. Also crafters and gatherers ARE NOT combat classes and almost always will get shredded.

Onto your problem that you are having, with these red marks. These icons are seen when a quest requires that you click on a target to be transported to another area or receive a buff necessary to complete a step of the quest....so switch back to lancer and kill it.

Stats on enemies are also not random.

Errm. On my last 2 screenshots it's clear that I'm a Lancer and those icons are still there. Plus, I saw that quote too when I googled, yet this icon is not even in "icon dictionary" of FF14 I found. Honestly, it looks bugged since usually the key is smaller and placed horizontally, not vertically =)

And I know that different jobs have different HP, especially when they are different levels. *But* two, let's say, Lancers of the same level, with no buffs or equipment, should have the same amount of HP. I highly doubt that the game generates XP increase with level using some random modifiers. At least it shouldn't...
....what does the quest say if you don't mind me asking,

(for both of the mobs in your first and last set of pictures)

I don't think you need a certain weapon yet but I'm not...well versed in arr quests like most

doubt all you want dude. I've got every class to 70 except for crafters and my main is 80, more play time than half of my friends who play the game. The icon is present. Kill them or see if there is an item tied to the quest that you have to use.

The only time 2 lancers with just weapons (which you have to have equipped no matter what) would have the same HP is if they were created with the same races, same signs, same everything that has an attribute altering aspect in character creation...the only actual time. Is Lancer the only class you have that is a combat class? Did you read your quest log?

The game generates xp the same as everyone unless you have items that increase or buff's, etc.

That's the thing - I don't have any active quest for those mobs. Plus, at least two different kinds of mobs have this icon now. I tried killing them of course - they just die and nothing happens x)

Well, he's got a point. You could've just said that different races have different base Vitality. I didn't know that at the moment. Yet that was weird flex but ok xD

You still need to read your quest logs. Regardless, if it isn't that then it's your hunting log.
Or it's from the MSQ "Doing the Dirty Work" which took me literally 5 seconds of googling to figure out. It's a main story quest. Boom, switch to combat class follow quest log.

Nah, it's actually another Arcanist's quest that I missed, yeah. Thank for the help.
