Sorry, i tried explaining it to you as simply as posisble. if you cant understand what the actual problem was by now, than you just wont get it. Try reading again carefully what the real problem is :) I tried to help you understand, im not upset here. i just wanted to help people. so yea. im done here.
you literarly wrote "no, you can not go into the steam settings and do it how you did it chiro"
i literarly PROVEN to you that when you download a game can you literarly click in the window where it tells you how big the game is, how long it needs to download etc. on the bottom the path ... and you can LITERARLY EASILY!!! create a NEW path to install it there ... and thats ALL what is needed.
but ok ... continue to refuse to believe me x.x i literarly proven to you that my FF14 is NOT on drive C and has only the config files and boot config. on drive C.
heck you could even give steam the new path in the same way, then copy and paste the entire game where the launcher got downloaded and the launcher of the game wouldnt even care -_-. it just wants the game to where it got initially downloaded to.
Again you are wrong, try reinstalling the game, and see what happens. The launcher doesnt care about what you want or what path you set. It always downloads incrementally to C:/ first. Im sorry you lack comprehension skills buddy! try again. You dont actually help people by just stating something so obvious that everyone already tried. And by continuing to troll me and this topic you are just revealing how much of a prick you are.
i just give up on you. i proven it to you. if you want to stay stubborn, fine. ignore the proof.
am done ... srsly -___-
Very easy to install it on any storage media from D:-Z:
If you're referring to temp files, that's a Windows thing, easily changed to another drive and your fault for not knowing how simple it is to change.
but again, the launcher cares about the directory into which it got downloaded. it then directly moves those files aswell directly into that folder. there is no temp storage on the main drive because the game comes literarly in parts/patches. you notice that when the download stops for short. the launcher dosnt putts the FULL 70GB onto drive C just to move it afterwards to its initial path.
and srsly peoples which have their operating system drive filled to the brim should not wonder why their system is slow. the OS drive should always be seperated from all the other junk. but thats a different topic =w=
Copy updater folder from C:\Users\%usermane%\Documents\My Games\FINAL FANTASY XIV - A Realm Reborn to new location.
Delete original folder from "My games"
In menu start input CMD and open as administrator
Copy this and paste into CMD window
mklink /d "C:\Users\%usermane%\Documents\My Games\FINAL FANTASY XIV - A Realm Reborn" "Your_New_location"
press Enter
Dont forget change %username% to your system user
As example how it looks for me:
mklink /d "C:\Users\Kladeos\Documents\My Games\FINAL FANTASY XIV - A Realm Reborn" "D:\games\FINAL FANTASY XIV - A Realm Reborn"
Now you can open launcher from steam, game will be download and install to new location
first cut/copy the game folder from common folder D:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common
then i move it to C:\STM\steamapps\common (create a folder if you don't have, you should able to it in Setting>storage>add drive)
after that i move/cut appmanifest_39210 file to the C:\STM\steamapps (you should check what is your appmanifest for FFXIV)
then restart the Steam. it should work.
Sorry for my broken English
Ive moved my FF14 copy from my C: drive to my Z: drive successfully by reading suggestions on this board. I made copies of the game, uninstalled from Steam, reinstalled the launcher to the new location, (here is where i falsely thought things were fine), I updated XIVlauncher's directory to the new path and the game booted perfectly. I thought everything was fine and i did nothing wrong.
But I wanted to make sure, so I tried booting the game from Steam and its trying to redownload the game to places unknown. I checked the system information on the vanilla launcher and it does in fact see the new install folder in Z:, so i have no idea why its trying to download again.
Im mostly concerned about my character data/UI stuff from being erased if I let this download play out, otherwise ill waste my time and bite the bullet. Not sure what to do, I hate how annoying SE has made this.
steam version is way too dicky to use. i am glad i use normal version haha. by default your data should be stored here.
C:\Users\%USERNAME%\Documents\My Games\FINAL FANTASY XIV - A Realm Reborn can back that up is all else fails
thanks, i lost my patience and let it replace all the game files since i couldnt seem to stop it. seems to be able to log in just fine and i kept all my data.
