There's a reason they are preffered.

It's because they're new/dead servers.

is there a way to find out how dead? i found only one website with some data but thats from july 2019
I joined Zalera when it was preferred. It's booming now.
After a year though.

I'd join it if you want a quick start, as the option to swap servers via real money is there, in case it doesn't have many people.

It shouldn't really matter much, any content that matters is Data Center wide, so if you queue for dungeons or do raids you'll get people from other servers.

World visit even made it so you can visit the other servers to buy things from their market boards.

i understand but still, would be a bummer if i put in a lot of time just to be in a server with only a few active ppl

You might as well abuse them for that Road to 70 buff, and can world visit to interact with others, or cross world linkshells (data center wide chat channels)

Started on Famfrit when it was a preferd server about month and a half ago now is pretty packed in town,so it shouldn't matter that much.:singingsheslime:

I's say as long as you have to struggle to reach the Quest-NPC, there are plenty of Players arround XD
The only "empty" places on Lich are those lil' corners of the World, where nothing happens, right?

well even on a main spawnpoint on gridania i didnt see a single soul sometimes, and it just doesnt feel that good to play a mmorpg on an "empty" server, thats why i made this thread in the first place, but as far as i understand all server with preferred status are kinda "low populated"

It's the very tail end of a patch, we've had a bit of a content drought, so there's not much reason to stay subbed till patch 5.2 coming up in about 2 weeks, so numbers right now are pretty low.

The NA Data centers are popping, even EU players are transferring over in droves, must be something going on in the EU servers/data centers.

A lot of EU players are experiencing queues up to 2 hours long.

I'm getting 5 to 10 minutes on (NA)Aether Data Center.

It might be worth just going to an NA data center I guess. IDK about lag or anything but, I play with a ton of EU players and they have no issues with lag or whatnot.

This is just what I observed though.

Aether has no preferred servers and there almost always full, same with (NA)Primal Data Center and Crystal.

I'd say make 2 characters, one on Litch and one on an NA data center and see if there is lag or anything. If not, i'd say go to the NA Data centers. Aether or Primal or Crystal.

Try it and see how it goes. Can't hurt right?

This is half true.

On Cactuar, Gridania has at least 50+ people around at almost all times, same with all the hubs except Limsa, sometimes I can't even see where i'm going theres so many people.

I think it depends on what server you are on. Not a lot on Cactuar take breaks, not saying nobody does but, the majority does not I would ASSUME. Same when I log into Balmung and Greg with my other alts. All city states are filled to the brim.

Remember, 5.2 is less than 2 weeks away and most of those who started on preferred servers only did so because every other server was locked so as soon as they opened up, people transfered, therefore emptying the server(s) on the new data centers.

But right now on NA data centers, theres a few locked from being congested, Jenova on Aether, Famfrit on Primal, Balmung and Mateaus on Crystal. And now theres a queue to get into Cactuar.
