Purchased the dlc on Square Enix Store

So i bought the stormbringers DLC on the Square Enix store (due to the discount), but my current game was downloaded via Steam (up to stormblood).

How do i go about updating my game to Shadowbringers? Do i just register my code onto Mog Station?

Unfortunately the Steam and Windows versions (SE Store) are incompatible with each other.

You own the game on steam and therefore have a steam license, you can only have 1 PC license per account.

So because you are on Steam, all DLC purchases must be made on Steam, this means you sadly can't take advantage of discounts elsewhere.

does that mean if i intend to use the Shadowbringers code, i won't have access to my Steam version account's characters and such? I'd have to start a brand new account with no characters? and that I cant register the game on Mog Station? I am confused with how mog station works cuz it seems to be account based game...

Make a new SE account, buy the base game again, register the base game+ShB on the new account and start from 0 without any characters.

Contact SE customer support. They may give you a refund or swap out a Steam key for you. Non-Steam keys won't work with the Steam version of the game.

i too was about to get it while it was on sale atleast for my ps4 but realized they only selling the physical copy not the digital one for ps4. so iv decided to forgo getting stormbringers for now

If I buy all the stuff on steam can I still use my account that I have? I already own everything but would like to switch to Steam because I can pay the monthly fee with steam wallet.

No. It will give a message: "FINAL FANTASY XIV has not yet been registered with this service account or your subscription has expired. "

so my old pc has ffxiv on it and i deleted it off that pc how do i get the register code to work on my new pc or do i have to buy the game again.

Learn to read peeps, instead of just clicking "yes/next"
Worse then the peeps that don't do tutorials, then complain that they can't Tank,Dps or Heal.

To be honest the Role Tutorials are very bad and outdated.
Even for those that have done them, there are a few things that the game does not explain to you, like the standardized markers.

I still see way too many people running away from the group when they have a stack marker and when people have the proximity marker they stack up with the group.
