This game is too much a WoW clone.
The questing system, the dungeons, the raids, the beast tribe quests (aka daily quests), the flying, everything they ripped off from WoW. Why Square Enix not create an original mmo instead of copying every game systems from WoW? FFXI is an mmo and it is an original game.. very different. FFXIV is a blalant rip off of WoW.
Following are the things that FFXIV copied from WoW:

1)They copied WoW's dungeon finder and renamed it was duty finder. Imagine how awesome FFXIV would have been if there was no duty finder. Remember the glory days of WoW when there was no dungeon finder and people had to manually form groups. Thats one of the reason why people are so hyped about Classic WoW.

2)They copied WoW's daily quest system and renamed it as beast tribe quests.

3)They copied WoW's world quest system and renamed it was FATEs.

4)They copied WoW's tab target combat system and added combos. Imagine how awesome FFXIV would have been if the combat was like traditional final fantasy games or something original instead of being copy pasted from western mmorpgs like WoW.
5)They copied WoW's tedious quest system like kill 5 of those and gather 10 of these. Imagine how awesome FFXIV would have been if the quest system was like traditional final fantasy games or something original.

6)They copied WoW's most worst feature: flying. Flying single handedly ruined the open world aspect of WoW and blizzard finally admitted in 2015 that adding flying was a mistake. So nowadays to fly in WoW you have to pass a huge grind take will take months even a year and it is also timegated. But SE and Yoshi P without thinking blalantly copied flying and pasted it into FFXIV.

7)They copied the justice and valor system that WoW had during Cataclysm and MOP expansion and renamed it as tomestones.

8)They copied WoW's world boss system and renamed it as hunts.

Eh, are you sure about that? From my experience it is the opposite - damage meters are a major source of toxicity in WoW. Yes, using damage meter to confront someone is not reportable offence in WoW but people do get butthurt, and things easily escalate from there.

My guild uses it to find the weak links in the raid team and to help them improve by giving tips that way. It's pretty useful in finding and testing out the capabilities of new recruits.

I gave out that statement after my experiences in FFXIV's instances.

When I first started I was called out for poor damage by the one of the guildies, all that it did was make me wanna improve more and with each raid night I did improve and do far better. Nothing wrong in calling people out for not performing well if it helps them improve later on.

That's weird, cause if anything the world design is so much better in WoW as the art team is amazing. Just entering into Drustvar, you get that feeling of ominousness, the tone of the forest and environment, the fog, the shadows, the trees, they all add up perfectly to create that feeling of dread and gloom as you finally reach Waycrest Manor.

How about Gilneas? When you start out as a Worgen and are sent to Gilneas as a human to witness and you take part in the fight to retake it and the tragedy that followed right after, the whole setting, the neo-gothic architecture. Everything there adds on to the whole feel of the city and the situation does it not?

Just questing through Stormheim as you learn more about it's people and the situation, all whilst Viking Architecture and Viking Mythical creatures surround the whole setting. With the enormous Halls of Valor, Trial of Valor and the Maw. With Valkry and Vrykul being the main race you interact with.

The zones all do their jobs well and give out the necessary feels while you do the quests throughout the zone the first time around. FFXIV gives it's information through cutscenes and WoW does through it's flexible quests. Questing system in WoW is much more flexible and as such you aren't stuck with only 4 or 5 different quest types like in FFXIV.

And if we are talking about dungeons, then WoW's might be more 'streamlined' as compared to how open it used to be. Yet the dungeons have a lot more interaction and have skips which can be used depending on your party setup. Is Freehold streamlined? Get a Rogue and look at that, you are at the last boss. These dungeons skips also play an important role in how your M+ runs go.

Classes such as Rogues, Monks, Demon Hunters, Hunters and Mages are the most popular for M+ due to this.

If we're talking about how paths are streamlined in WoW, then what about FFXIV? Isn't each dungeon literally just

Entrance -> Path -> Boss 1 -> Path -> Boss 2 -> Path -> Last Boss.

You can't even choose to explore more of a dungeon as there is no other path to take or any skip to do. WoW at the very least also adds some Dungeon World Quests which you can choose to do and take a detour to head to the WQ Boss.

The lore team does need some changes tbf, things like Night Warrior Tyrande not being able to kill Nathanos because he said "ENOUGH" is annoying. It's as annoying as being wrecked by some old man called Ran'jit when you happen to be the WoL or when you are wrecking Zenos in the MSQ and he casts Concentravity.

If FF is so bad then why are you here trollin? edit, I see your profile is set to private so we can't even see if you even spent 5 minutes in game.

Are you one of those people from WoW who are mad because your server is empty and people are leaving for FF?

I bet you played your free 30 days and never returned.

My profile is set to friends only, any issues with that? I prefer only letting people I know to see my stuff. I'm sorry I'm not a fan of strangers snooping around.

Like I said before, I am subscribed to both FFXIV and WoW and that was just how I feel about the game the moment. But yes, keep calling me a troll because I disagree with you that FFXIV is not this perfect MMO that you make it out to be and how every other MMO is bad. Not everyone who disagrees with you is a troll.

The server I play on is doing pretty well, Guildies are active too and are quite chill to talk to. Having other guilds personally ask you to provide them with potions for quite a huge sum of gold is great. Allows me to play the game without using any of my cash.

I also happen to know so much about the story, the classes and content, almost as if I've played the game. No no, that can't be it.

HAHAHAHAHA
You think WOW created those things? LOL
WOW is a clone of lots of other MMO's. And so is every MMO! Every MMO is a different combination of what other people have done. There is no such thing as a completely original video game. And that is OK. They may have done a bunch of stuff that WOW did first, but they did it better! But they ripped off WOW no more than WOW ripped off dozens of other MMO's before it. If you don't like the game, then don't play it. If you want a game that almost nobody wants, then go make it yourself!

So then no, you never played the game beyond the free trial or 30 free day's. Got it.

That's just your assumptions. Last I checked, I finished the story till the trial where you fight Emet Selch/Hades in Amaurot because my character absorbed too much of the Lightwarden's light and is dying, and right after the fight with Emet Selch, my character used up all that light and is now not dying

Loved some moments in ShB like when Seto spoke about his old owner Ardbert as Ghost Ardbert watched from a distance and felt real sad

Or maybe the side quest where you speak to those Bearded Lalafells and get the Lali-ho emote

Even seeing that Vauthry fly off to the Mt.Gulg while flapping those tiny wings

Prolly even fighting the Fairy King Titania who also happens to be a Lightwarden after she killed the old LW and absorbed his light. The soundtrack was pretty damn catchy, was stuck in my head for a whole week

Even all those people come together to build the super huge golem construct to create a path to Mt.Gulg or when Thancred almost killed himself to defeat Ran'jit by making his soul or spectral body invisible

Or you know, seeing the final zone of the final zone in Shadowbringers, now that was a sight to see.

Who could forget Tesleen turning into a Sin Eater after trying to protect that dying Au Ra kid and then having to kill her during Holminster Switch, I even recall Alphinaud saying something to Alisaie when I ran it the first time with Trust about her growing pale.

Guess I just imagined these in the first week of July.

You constantly repeat in your OP "Imagine how awesome FF14 would be "if"......."

Yet you then claim every feature of the game is just something WoW has and FF14 has nothing original.

However, you clearly have some idea of what you think FF14 is, there must be something there that you think is awesome on it's own as you have this image in your mind of how awesome the game will be without all those WoW mechanics in it.

So you trim all of those WoW mechanics you don't like out of FF14, what are we left with that you have this expectation of being awesome without the WoW fluff?

Holy crap you are ridiculous. Stop profile snooping and learn to make a real argument. You make fans of this game look bad.

If you read 1/10th as much as you write you would know that Drakon is an experienced endgame player with a huge post history, who frequently engages in real conversation here.

You copied most straight from console gamers.

We're all aware of the website.

So, NO, you don't play then. All you proved is that you can use Google.

Let's see that play time, end game gear, achievements, etc.

Why so scared?

Is it because I'm right and you don't play?

So I'm just supposed to ASSUME you are right?

All dude has done is dog the game.

All you do is back up trolls.

That's a fact and can pull your last few posts where you just agreed with them to win an argument.

Yeah, I watched you in here for a while doing your routine of taking sides of trolls because they will gang up on a person.

No, you are a bully and I can link your stuff if you would like.

I can easily point out your hypoctacy.

====================

Back on point, either they prove it or you and them are lying.

Unless that's your alt account.

I just looked up dude and his comments and posts are the worst, just constant dogging of the hammer and anybody who likes it.

DAMN.

You told me to look him up and I did and now I'm sick to my stomach at what I find.

Was this your trick to get me to see they are a troll?
Mandodo (Banned) Dec 1, 2019 @ 12:26pm
THIS is why this thread is stupid and useless and is TROLL BAIT.

==============================================

"I've played FFXIV, WoW, BDO, SWTOR, PSO2, PSU, TERA, and many more. I'd call myself a MMO connoisseur, and I probably have a much more valid opinion than you." - ༺Leͥgeͣnͫd༻ᴳᵒᵈ - OP.

==============================================

That's how you know, there was never a discussion, ever, just their fact.

But, you know, people here will defend them to the death.

Dude's past comments and yeah, most is wrong and everybody dissagrees with them.

==============================================

For starters, "Some changes have affected my enjoyment of the game, and I am wondering whether a break would be better at this point. I did genuinely enjoy this game, but it's just not the same for me." - Drakon

===============================================

"Wait DRK's were hard to heal in Stormblood? I remember being close to unkillable when I did my rotation without a mistake, they were a bit harder to heal in raids, but could manage themselves a lot better than they do now. How is this DRK easier to heal when it lacks almost all the self sustain it used to have? The class is being carried by TBN alone at this point.

I used 'Souls like' games as an example because, when Dark Souls released, do you recall people complaining that it was too hard and that they don't like hard games, some journalist even asked for an easy mode recently for Sekiro. The point was that, there are people who enjoy the game or in this case, class for how hard or complex it is, while there are those who hate it for that reason. Catering to one will cost the loss of the other in most cases.

Hunt trains are almost non-existent outside of reset day, I have never seen one active outside of then. I have seen maybe one party who has listed for Treasure Hunts in the past 3 months. But if there are those who still do it, good for them.

Machinist is just another TA slave and also as an added bonus has it's own IR window. Yay for unoriginal class design. The more you play each class, the more you notice how similar each plays to one another. Can't wait for the next expansion when every class will have it's own IR window. Everyone is built around a 60s burst window at the moment.

I blame encounter design for most of these changes.

Tanking did need some changes, but these are not the changes, enmity is non-existent now. Every tank plays way too similar to one another, different classes should play differently, now they all just how one or two different gimmicks to make them seem "unique" from the other classes in that role.

Just look at Gauges, do you think every class really needed a gauge, it worked for one or two classes and then they just slap one on to everything. Do you think DRK needed a Blackblood Gauge, did Ninja need a Ninki Gauge? DRK's were solid back in HW, they needed no such thing then, yet they added one.

I'm just annoyed at the decision SE has made to this game in this expansion and I find the class design to be very unoriginal and overused."

=========================================

There's another.

Just 2 so far and they are dead wrong, as usual.

Do I HAVE to pick apart the fact that hunt trains are DAILY, not weekly and were never weekly.

Treasure Hunts are held DAILY and in most cases, WEEKLY, as after Jumbo, you'll notice a ♥♥♥♥ ton of other groups doing maps too.

Do I.....do....I need to keep going, this was just 2 comments and there is WAY more.

And BTW, DRK's were ♥♥♥♥ in HW. That's a fact.

I mean, if dude actually played the game, they would know you can turn off Job gauges.

The job gauges were implemented for new people to get used to the job and how it works.

You...ummm...you are aware we have SOUND notifications when you reach a gauge limit right?

No need for a job gauge on screen.

SIGH.

Keep defending trolls and i'll keep showing the fallacy in their "argument" like I always do and you'll be here to back them up, like always.

EDIT - that's not counting the map runs being put up in Party Finder. Or the permanent Hunt trains that seem to be in party Finder 24/7

I just did 4 Hunt trains today alone LOL. I been capped on tomes, nuts, etc. I'm achievement hunting.

This is the same guy who said crafting was now broke and useless after one week.......

Ishgard and the hundreds still crafting, me included, are still there and we say "Hello".

p.s. you asked for this, theres actually more I can dissect and pick from, dude is wrong about most things if not all and gives out un factual information just to dog the game.
Should I keep going, theres one more that is just stupid as hell that I would LOVE to go over. Please tell me more how you look up to troll man.

Why so scared?

Is it because I'm right and you don't play?

Just spent my time writing that from recollection, but apparently it's from some website? Sure dude. Guess I just wrote a huge essay in this forum about Dark Knight's issues in ShB for no reason whatsoever right? Totally not cause I cared about the game right. I just randomly knew how DRK worked in Stormblood because I dreamt about it one day.

I had been for FFXIV when Neuronfly posted his made up facts on why WoW is better and when someone posted that video of Peon talking bad about FFXIV here, while skipping all it's core content. I like the game just as much as I like WoW. I'll call out the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ if needed, but I would do the same if someone spouted stuff to make FFXIV seem better than what it actually is.

I'll give WoW where credit is due, I won't disagree that it has it's own issues, I've already stated the game's problems multiple times in Blizzard's forums and recently they did announce their changes which are coming ingame through 8.3 and the next expansions which have mostly attended to the problems people have with the game.

I could name some of the main issues I had with BfA from memory. Huge power gap between classes, overpruning of their toolkits, removing class identity, intense lag during WPvP, unfair sharding which leads to one faction getting stomped on, Weekly rewards being RNG, Azerite grind is unfun and just plain timegating. Island expeditions and Warfronts being a failure. Healers are far too powerful to the point where they are unkillable in PvP, Rogue and Demon Hunter being far too powerful compared to the rest. Oh and no Class based tier sets anymore.

I can do the same for FFXIV and still like the game, Post-ARR is far too long and can cause burnout if not played in moderation or by settings goals, Open world is as dead as it gets, PvP is just an after thought, Classes are not as fun as they were or even just requiring more APM like they did in Stormblood and before, lack of build/customization of classes to play differently, having no option to prevent people from queuing for 30+ content without job stones. Job design is unoriginal. Economy rises and falls within patch week with no real gold sink outside of housing.

I got lots of things I dislike and/or consider as flaws in both the games, yet you don't see me say stuff like WoW is perfect and FFXIV is garbage or FFXIV is perfect and WoW is garbage like you do. You need to acknowledge those flaws as well. FFXIV is not perfect, nothing is.

I will not give out any personal information of mine to anyone who I do not know in real life or anyone who hasn't played online games with me for years and have in my case, been great friends. I have my own reasons for never doing such a thing again. I'm sorry you don't seem to understand that Rocket.

Once again, I am not a troll, I had just given my genuine thoughts on how I feel about the two games. But you as always call anyone you don't agree with, a troll.

Edit: Wow, just... WoW. You would go that far in. Jeez. All you've proven is how petty you are with all that. That's all that it did.

You're done dude, nobody is listening to you.

You lost and it's sad you won't even provide proof.

Your lodestone is not PERSONAL information unless you put your SSN, Birth Date, address, pic, etc, in the little space they have for a bio.

Excuses, excuses. Here's my lodestone to show i'm not a coward and super paranoid for some dumbass reason.

https://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodestone/character/7984895/

OH MY GOD, whats that? NO PERSONAL INFO GIVIN....hmmmmmm......

Im assuming your profile via steam also has your birth date, address, ssn, etc am I correct?

If not, then it's not personal and you are copping out big time.
