Why 2x server exp?
Is it because server is dying and is giving you a chance to catch up to others?
If so I would rather play on a new server, even tho 2x is tempting.

what? haven't seen any 2x server exp event

Edit: Unless you mean the reward for playing on completely new servers

Guess he means the Road to 60 buff on preferred worlds. That one gives you quite a boost, although I haven't really seen a dying server until now.

It's a way of balancing out world population. The least populated servers have a bonus xp reward. It doesn't mean the server is dead, more likely that the other servers are too alive.

It means theres fewer people playing on that server, yes, but i wouldnt categorize these servers as 'dying' just with a smaller population than others. SE didnt realy started this because the servers are dead or dying, they did it because most new players only wanted to play on balmung/gilgamesh and other heavily populated servers...well...stormblood came and the massive ammount of people broke the high pop servers. Soo they want people to also start playing on low pop servers to prevent that from happening again.

I have to say, it did make me want to play on 2x. Makes my life easier and I can rush through early part of the game which is nice.

As The Happy Merchant and Neiker have said, preferred servers are definitely not dead only lower pop. All servers are healthy with some more population on them than others.

The XP is way faster to gain on preferred servers and you'll constantly see people in the overworld too, from what I have experienced.

I put it down to the games mechanics and the devs being properly aware of what they made.

I play on Zodiark which has the road to 60 buff and a couple of times I had to enter a (short) queue to get in on prime time weekends.

I would say the buff is because the games design gates every bit of content behind main story progression, so getting the population of a server more active in the current 60-70 content is best for the game, rather than have a large amount of the player base on new servers stuck plodding along in the old stuff.

TL:DR - As it's not possible to skip old content, I say the devs just made that old content easy to outlevel and speed through in order to get more people playing current content, through experience so far, it's certainly not appearing to be because of a lack of players by any means.

Yeah I like it too, I want to play red mage and it would take a long time without 2x buff.

Fair warning when you get there: If you're looking for a deep and interesting job with lots of complexity and a high skill ceiling, look elsewhere. Red mage is almost as dull as most WoW classes.

Red Mage was only a showcase to show where all other jobs are going.
I can only hope that isn't the case.

Not to say it's "bad", per se, it's functional and viable. But its simplicity, at least for me, makes it extremely boring.
