FINAL FANTASY XIV Online

[RESOLVED] Bought Stormblood DLC through steam. Key not working. Can't get a refund.
This is an attempt to get in contact with a human being to look into this issue. I just want the $39.99 refund of the Stormblood DLC that I can't use anyway. I went ahead and bought it through Square-Enix and that works. I would just like a refund from my steam purchase.

Update 2/8/2019

I have received a refund for the Stormblood DLC.

The process to do so was as follows:
- Go to FFXIV in your library
- Click support on the right
- Click "Gameplay or Technical Issue"
- Click "The game won't download or install"
- Click "Contact Steam Support"
- Agree to including system info to aid in troubleshooting this fake problem.
- Ask for a refund in the form field.

Despite the awkward way to get to it, I got support relatively quickly and the amount was refunded to my card; no questions asked.

Hope someone finds this useful.

Sorry but the key works for what it is intended. If you bought the key from Steam, it works for the steam version. You cannot buy the Steam key from the website so you saying buying a key from the website means you do not use the base game through the steam launcher.

So it was actually your fault for buying the wrong version of the key.

If you brought Stormblood through Steam but had a PC edition of the game rather than steam, that's your fault. It does warn you.

Sounds like the tc did not read the warning.

This documentation is outdated. Steam only takes you to get a refund programmatically. In my case, it considered the DLC I cannot utilize past the amount of hours of game played and thus will not automatically refund. I assume this is due to it being DLC which is part of a game I've spent many more hours playing despite not having access to the new content.

I am posting here because I need a human to look at this issue.

Thank you for the link. If you have a "Press 0 to talk to a human" link that'd be useful.

My copy was purchased on steam. Regardless, if I can't utilize the key, then it should be no problem to refund it. I'll gladly do what I have to to prove my case to be authentic. I just don't want to pay for something I didn't get.

Pretty sure part of the deal is actually being able to use the key to unlock the expac. That wasn't possible so I want a refund.

Have you played more than 2 hours since you bought the DLC?

Yes? Then steam will not refund you. Those are the refund rules. Talking a human is highly unlikely to change that, and they aren't going to have any humans likely stalking this forum for refund complaints.

No? Then go through the standard refund process, and tell it you want to refund the DLC. It should let you without any problem.

I bought the key. The key did not work, therefore I could not have played any of the DLC. Therefore, I should get a refund. The automated system is flawed in that it wasn't able to recognize my lack of access to the DLC, therefore a human should address.

Can't you just write a Ticket? Don't click on DLC not working or something. Pick something else and click till you can write a Ticket.
There yor write what happened and some human will read it...

I've tried a couple different routes. A ticketing system would be great if someone knew how to get to it.

So. Dumb thing. Have you put the key in at the Mog Station? But also, if it worked buying it through the SE store, my buddy, my pal... You don't have a Steam copy.
Beyzun Jan 31, 2019 @ 5:52pm
That is how I could tell it was not a functional key.

So I don't have a 'Steam'-type Mog Station account? That means that the key I used should be returned for a refund then.

It's a pretty simple case. If you paid me to get access to a house and you are locked out with the keys I gave you, then either I give you a key that works or refund you.

Not sure how much clearer I can be.

But you've also bought the game on Steam so it's been tracking you're play time thus pushing you out of the refund window. It doesn't matter if you used the Steam key or not as the tracking starts as soon as the launcher is started.

You'll be hard pressed to get a refund outside of the refund window due to a user error.

On the plus side now you've now remembered you have a windows account so you'll not make the same mistake when the next expansion drops.

Right, the system doesn't account for my situation.

Still want a refund. Human, please.
