Removing steam from my ffxiv account

Ok so I want to remove steam from my account and just play via SE website is there anyway i can unlink my account i can request to remove the game off steam but would that take the link from my account to steam away this wouldnt be a problem of every platform except steam had sales on... thanks

You can play it on the SE launcher, but it will always be a Steam copy. Meaning you must, always, buy its expansions on Steam.

you can boot and play the game up without steam just fine via the normal launcher. but as the other guy already said : account is locked to steam for good. the reason for this is payment method steam wallet. thats the sole difference. you must buy all xpacs trough steam for your account. the only way to undo this is to start over character wise which is basicly never worth it.

So even if i request steam to delete the game for good it will still be linked to steam wallet?

correct. that choice is permament due to SE decideing to keep the payment options seperate for a reason only SE can tell you.

One thing to note that I don't see mentioned is you CAN switch from Steam to PS4 and vice versa you just need to rebuy the licenses on PS4 to play it there. In fact you can actually play on both with one subscription on the same character. You will just have to buy the game twice and setup your HUD, ect twice since all of that is saved locally.

see i wanna use my ps4 and pc but i refuse to buy it on pc if i have to use steam if i have to pay full price where everywhere else is on sale

steam had a sale just about 1 month ago dude. and it certainly wont be the last one for this year. and xpacs only come out every 2 years. and that is all you ever buy for this game trough steam.

pretty much. during the summer sale. was about 1 month ago. lasted for 2 weeks. think it was 50% off or something on stormblood alone.

yes you could. but that means your characters wont be there on that new account. so you basicly start all over from lvl 1.

Steam usually only has this game on sale twice a year. Once during Summer Sale and again during Winter. So you have a few more months until it goes on sale again.

You could always try contacting SE Customer Support and see if they can help you. It couldn't hurt to get an official response.

The only way you can is if you were prompted to link your SE ID to your steam account through the launcher and you used the wrong SE ID. If that is the cae, please use the form in the link below to fix that. They are usually really fast about it too.
