FFXIV: can't log in

alright i been having this issue for a long time. i had it for my ps4 and it wouldn't let me log in i set a one key password. that didn't work, i reset my password a thousand times. nothing is working im putting my id in correctly cuz i can log into the website just fine. i just don't understand why i can't log in to my ps4 game or even on steam. i been having this issue since the day the game came out. been waiting for patches to see if it'll fix the problem. but im not having any luck at this point.

Are you logging in on the website succesfully with your one-time password? If you don't use one for the website, you don't have one active, so you should leave the field blank. If you can access the website, try to manually disable the one-time password if you have it enabled in order to simplify your login attempts. The client login should be identical at all times - otherwise try logging a support ticket.

i can log into the website just fine. by email but if i try my ID it wont work at all. even tho im putting in my password in correctly. i don't have a one-time password either. so i know its not that

That's very strange. Can you confirm that your ID is correct? When you've logged in using your email, you should be able to see your ID somewhere.

yea i can confirm that my ID is correct when i log in with my email. i don't understand whats going on. i also heard that square enix like to change your ID but like i said when i log in by email my ID is there and is correct.

Hi there.
I dont believe you can log into the mogstation using your email address. Maybe the SE website, but you need your SE ID for mogstation.com
I would suggest using your credentials to try to log in to mogstation, and if that doesnt work, try a username and password recovery. Remember, if you never signed up for a "one time password" always leave that field blank. It is like an authenticator key similar to what World of Warcraft offers for extra account security. If it lets you log in, make sure that you have an active sub or are within the parameters of your free trial. Hope this helps.

trying to log in and it says my account doesnt exist even though i can log in to the mogstation no problem

SE decided that window users can't use steam and steam users have to use steam to launch ff14. I canceled my sub over this. GL to you.

If you are opening the launcher from the installation folder (or a shortcut to the launcher in said folder) it wont let you log in with a Steam account for FFXIV. You must use the steam library now to launch it.

I don't know why they did this but it broke all my shortcuts. ♥♥♥♥ Square Enix.

This legitimately fixed my issue. Completely unacceptable that this happens in 2020 with no in client explanation. Took a break last year, was able to launch normally in the past. Come back and have to deal with thiss? Sad.

Just add -issteam to the end of the target from a desktop shortcut. Steam not needed to run then.
