CD key for Stormblood invalid.

I have the standard edition, I just purchased Stormblood on steam. I am trying to enter the cd key to activate the product in steam by copying and pasting the one from Stormblood I received and I get an invalid message. I also tried to go through the mogstation which links me to my steam account and says that I dont have permission. Through looking on threads I found that it has to be activated on steam first which is my first problem that I asked about. I just want to upgrade to the expansion and im copying and pasting keys they give me what am I doing wrong?

Where did you buy the standard edition from?
Have you ever played the game outside of Steam on the same mogstation account?
Are you entering the CD-Key in to the expansion tab?

I bought the standard edition for 19.99 through steam. I downloaded it and entered the key have played it for a little and wanted to get the stormblood expansion. So I steam purchased the Stormblood standard edition and there was no download prompt on steam but I did get the window for the CD-key. Nothing in the Game launcher is prompting me for the new cd key it just runs standard edition. When I try to add game on steam and enter a CD key by copying the one given to me it says invalid. Also when im on mogstation I get an error as well. First time ever playing the game was on steam nothing else.

1. Try to Activate the Product on Steam manually if you haven't already. then make sure you have the game tied to your account first on Steam by going to Games >>> activate product on Steam

2. You have to make sure the Stormblood key if bought on Steam will only work if you bought the Standard edition on Steam also not the external PC account version.

3. If you did do all this then go onto the Mogstation and activate the Stormblood key there on your account. The Copy and Paste Key may or not may not work directly for the Steam key link so if you launch the game the Stormblood logo should appear it should say that you have it on the account once its added through the Mogstation.

4. If this doesnt work then get a refund through Steam or contact Square enix customer support directly with your account information

5. The official forums or Reddit [informally] might be able to help you if yo are still having difficulties.

Steam Cd key activation is giving me an invalid response. Mogstation takes me through steam and then out to mog with an error code.
"You cannot use this function.
Please contact the SQUARE ENIX Support Center for additional details.
Error Code: s3802".
Is this a common thing for new purchases on steam?

I have exactly the same problem as you and steam now I do not want to pay for the expansion because I've played more than two hours at the end of fantasy xiv

<SOLVED>

1. Copy stormblood cd-key from steam
2. Go to Mogstation - account and then above the big "Enter Expansion Registration Code" to the right click on "Add New Service Account"
3. Enter your steam key
4. It will open you steam browser, so login on browser and confirm
5. Copy the cd-key again (same one)
6. Now you can click on the red "Enter Expansion Registration Code" and enter your code again.
7. confirm
8. Restart stormblood, and open it again and it will start update :)
9.BOOM you can play stormblood

I bought the game through steam but it wouldn't download so I linked my steam account to square enix to download the game. Just bought stormblood and every way I try it says product key invalid. Completely lost on what to do now

If I may also add to Bettefar's solution. For those who are receiving a -24202 error on Mog Station when trying to activate the CD Key from steam on Mogstation,

Try activating the key using Microsoft Edge. I think the problem I had may be related to my Ublock origin ad blocker. Either that, its probably Mogstations crappy webpage.

Ok problem solved. The issue i had was the first game wasnt linked to my steam account so how could SB be linked. hense why it didnt work.

Solution,

Add new service account
Use key for Realm Reborn.
This will create a second 2 Select Service Account
Click on that then register SB on that
Done
