You speak of greedy publishers and what do you say about OP then? He bought the expansion without even reading the notice that comes with it, what do you say about that? is it SE fault for people that don't even pay attention to what they are buying?
When you go to a pharmacy do you buy medicine without knowing it's effects? Do you go to a gas station toss a coin and fill the tank with a random fuel or you car to know the proper one that your car uses?
You people need to stop blaming third party because of mystakes of your own.
It's like the Heavensward for free thing...people on steam bash SE for not getting HW free on steam, well if they go to the store they will not see it anywhere because as you said Steam is a 3rd party platform, it is said and should be known that HWcomes free with Stormblood or you pre-order Shadowbringers and you have to wait until July...the deals like HW for free are exclusive to SE store.
This is like all those posts of people bashing SE and Steam for not being able do redeem the codes, i came from WoW and gladly i left that game because FF14 for me is so much better both the game and community, from the moment i purchased the game until now i haven't had a single issue with my account on steam and i pre-ordered and already redeemed the codes for Shadowbringers as soon as they were available.
Pay attention to what you buy and stop blamming others for your own fails.
Well many of us bought a pipe dream then...and despite everything people are free to pre-order or not.
dude HW is free right now anyways and you wont be playing the expansion to begin with your to far behind and you dont seem like the type of person who can lvl to 70 and finish story before then
u got 2 weeks
EDIT: If you purchased it after May 31st, you won't be able to grab it for free; otherwise, you're good.

I have to say it IS a bit odd to not just activate the prior xpacs via the pre-order code, but such is life.
You just can't register the code for neither platform until after it's released on July 2nd. Mogstation simply doesn't allow that now. Doesn't matter where you buy the code. I already have mine from Steam. You have yours. And the exactly same code you get from Square shop.
Stormblood costs $50 CAD (don't know what it costs USD; not doing the conversion right now). Shadowbringers costs $50 to pre-order. If you pre-order ShB and wait until the 28th to start playing, you're paying half of what you would to start StB now. As of now, June 28th is 8 days away. Even adding on the cost of a subscription, $12.99 CAD, you're still saving $37 dollars.
Most games require you to purchase every expansion individually. It's not really feasible for MMOs to do that, long-term; if new players can't access later content without first purchasing earlier content, then later content isn't going to be very effective at drawing in new players. So obviously their motives are not altruistic. It still seems incredibly silly, however, to describe Square as devil-worshippers for providing close to $100 CAD worth of content (remembering that HW is bundled in there as well) for free, with the purchase of ShB.
If I could register SHB and get SB, I would have bought game time, but as I can't I'm waiting one month until the expansion drops. I think a lot of people share my situation and SQE just lost 1 month of game time from us.
That said, in about two weeks this will be a non-issue, so idc anymore.
