Lucid Dreaming though
Any change they ever do will always upset some or excite some. So all they can do is focus on life improvements of the game to keep it going for years to come.
My opinion is that as long as you don't make it less interesting and deep (ala Astrologian, which seems fun except for simplified card effects), it's good to *streamline* your game mechanics every few years of change. It's like removing nigh useless but still used abilities and integrating them somewhat passively etc to make them play better without needlessly expanding a flowchart.
Once it's simple again but hasn't lost depth, you can re-add complexity according to new philosophies.
iv talked to at least 30 people so far and all of them are happy with the changes because it eases up on the button clutter.. lot of the tank skills dont normally be used anyways.. but the people i talk too do everything in ff14, pvp pve raid and the higher end raids...
at the end of the day the changes wont please everyone but to me its a fine middle ground for newcomers and vets.
Yeah, devs always know best! That's why we had MCH be a meme for an entire expansion, and DRK for like three quarters of it.
We all get to smash stuff with abandon now. Unlimited AOEs for big pulls. Anyone who doesn't smile thinking about that needs to seek professional help.
It isn't. A lot of people are just being drama queens.
screwed is unlikely. but some of the changes set a bad foresight into the future sadly. we already see the first signs of job homogenization. if it stays like this its kinda ok. if it goes further on that part there is literally no reason anymore for haveing so many jobs as beside different weapon theyll all play the same at some point.
savage mechanics have to double now aswell. same for ex trials. they need to go back to shinryu/sephi/nerdhogg levels of difficulty as otherwise things will get way too simple to be called extreme anymore. SB trials (except shinryu) where the easiest ex trials we ever got accross the board. if 5.0 ex trials are even easier COUPLED with these changes that would suck royally. game already lacks midcore content big time.
so reduceing what is left of it would drive alot of people away probaly. when jobs become easier to play the content needs to be stepped up to somewhat keep the difficulty level from going any lower thant it already is (atleast for ex and savage the rest is already so easy it doesnt matter anymore some people even bot trough 4 persons already and i cannot even blame em for doing that)
