Shadowbringers tank and healer changes upset me
https://youtu.be/-8u5Cs618Vs

Same post but in text:

"Tanks lose their DPS stance and their tank stance now has no drawback to staying in it. All skills do the same amount of emnity, so the rotation that you do no longer matters. Astrologian loses card RNG to a point that all cards grant some sort damage increase. White Mage loses protect, gains extra insta-heals. Scholar fairy is simplified. Mana is now capped at 10 000, healer damage dealing is discouraged.

Some players are happy about this, but for me, for me RPGs are about build diversity and getting good at your class, among other things. Build diversity was very scarse as it was and rotations on all support classes have now been significantly simplified. Meaning learning a class is easy. And if one of the things that was holding you in this game was getting satisfaction out of your mastered rotation, that perfect health juggle on a tank, going to DPS stance at just the right time... Then what now?

This also makes supports very much a one trick pony. Tanks got reduced to DPS with aggro stance, healers now just heal. As a person that always played just support, I am now a bit at a loss of what I want to do. I could go with White Mage. I mean they're getting minimal changes as a class. However White Mage was always very simple to play and there are rumours on requiring to overheal to use your bigger damage abilities, meaning either way, I will either be standing there doing nothing, or spamming heals on already healthy people.

Due to slow moving MMO market, it also means that I can't just turn around and go to a competitor. There aren't many competitors out there. And while, frankly, I hoped that Shadowbringers will be insanely good because I wanted to have an MMO for the next two years to play, Square Enix doesn't really need me. In the grand scheme of things, I could move on to a random ability World of Warcraft server, as while it suffers under great RNG, it offers build diversity, literally no-one would care. So before you get upset over this video, know that I'm sharing my opinion just to make myself feel somewhat better and get it off my chest. And now that I've done that, this is it. I am greatly dissappointed with Shadowbringer support changes and that's that."

I am just... Really saddened by it.

If spamming 1 1 1 1 1 means holding aggro and not suddenly losing it so the boss can 1 shot your healer then I'm all for it.

i've seen my fair share of bad tanks and healers in both WoW and FF14, and some are still bad after someone takes the time to train them. Right now im on the wait and see boat, so just wait till it goes live to judge since after all it could be worse...it could be WoW.

I'm about to hop into this game and I have to agree. They did the same with Tera, the moment they started to pander towards casuals the worse and worse the game got. I hope this game doesn't go down the same road and that this is a one off type thing.

It's their game to do what they like, if you dont like it any more, then just find something else to play.

You have to remember that they know things that we do not with future content, what we see as weird or wrong maybe setting us up for future expansions or a different direction.

Any change they ever do will always upset some or excite some. So all they can do is focus on life improvements of the game to keep it going for years to come.

I heard that classes would get more complicated again leading up to the next expansion, upon which stuff is somewhat simplified and streamlined again.

My opinion is that as long as you don't make it less interesting and deep (ala Astrologian, which seems fun except for simplified card effects), it's good to *streamline* your game mechanics every few years of change. It's like removing nigh useless but still used abilities and integrating them somewhat passively etc to make them play better without needlessly expanding a flowchart.

Once it's simple again but hasn't lost depth, you can re-add complexity according to new philosophies.
Honestly i think the new changes are fine.. you still do dps as a tank just you keep generating aggro.. because well "tanks" are meant to be holding aggro, not trying to dps.. if you wanted to dps then be a DPS.. but that just me.. im old school.

iv talked to at least 30 people so far and all of them are happy with the changes because it eases up on the button clutter.. lot of the tank skills dont normally be used anyways.. but the people i talk too do everything in ff14, pvp pve raid and the higher end raids...

at the end of the day the changes wont please everyone but to me its a fine middle ground for newcomers and vets.

Yeah, devs always know best! That's why we had MCH be a meme for an entire expansion, and DRK for like three quarters of it.

I, for one, enjoy simplicity. Some enjoy pushing themselves to their limits and beyond, whereas others like to feel comfortable and relatively without stress whilst enjoying their chosen MMO. There is no right or wrong opinion here, of course. I am quite pleased with the changes!

Warrior no longer uses TP. I get to smash stuff with abandon now which is what the job description was. I couldn't be happier

We all get to smash stuff with abandon now. Unlimited AOEs for big pulls. Anyone who doesn't smile thinking about that needs to seek professional help.

It isn't. A lot of people are just being drama queens.

I really hope the game was not screwed for this changes, because is my fav game

screwed is unlikely. but some of the changes set a bad foresight into the future sadly. we already see the first signs of job homogenization. if it stays like this its kinda ok. if it goes further on that part there is literally no reason anymore for haveing so many jobs as beside different weapon theyll all play the same at some point.

savage mechanics have to double now aswell. same for ex trials. they need to go back to shinryu/sephi/nerdhogg levels of difficulty as otherwise things will get way too simple to be called extreme anymore. SB trials (except shinryu) where the easiest ex trials we ever got accross the board. if 5.0 ex trials are even easier COUPLED with these changes that would suck royally. game already lacks midcore content big time.

so reduceing what is left of it would drive alot of people away probaly. when jobs become easier to play the content needs to be stepped up to somewhat keep the difficulty level from going any lower thant it already is (atleast for ex and savage the rest is already so easy it doesnt matter anymore some people even bot trough 4 persons already and i cannot even blame em for doing that)
