Shadowbringers tank and healer changes upset me

"Tanks lose their DPS stance and their tank stance now has no drawback to staying in it. All skills do the same amount of emnity, so the rotation that you do no longer matters. Astrologian loses card RNG to a point that all cards grant some sort damage increase. White Mage loses protect, gains extra insta-heals. Scholar fairy is simplified. Mana is now capped at 10 000, healer damage dealing is discouraged.

Some players are happy about this, but for me, for me RPGs are about build diversity and getting good at your class, among other things. Build diversity was very scarse as it was and rotations on all support classes have now been significantly simplified. Meaning learning a class is easy. And if one of the things that was holding you in this game was getting satisfaction out of your mastered rotation, that perfect health juggle on a tank, going to DPS stance at just the right time... Then what now?

This also makes supports very much a one trick pony. Tanks got reduced to DPS with aggro stance, healers now just heal. As a person that always played just support, I am now a bit at a loss of what I want to do. I could go with White Mage. I mean they're getting minimal changes as a class. However White Mage was always very simple to play and there are rumours on requiring to overheal to use your bigger damage abilities, meaning either way, I will either be standing there doing nothing, or spamming heals on already healthy people.

Due to slow moving MMO market, it also means that I can't just turn around and go to a competitor. There aren't many competitors out there. And while, frankly, I hoped that Shadowbringers will be insanely good because I wanted to have an MMO for the next two years to play, Square Enix doesn't really need me. In the grand scheme of things, I could move on to a random ability World of Warcraft server, as while it suffers under great RNG, it offers build diversity, literally no-one would care. So before you get upset over this video, know that I'm sharing my opinion just to make myself feel somewhat better and get it off my chest. And now that I've done that, this is it. I am greatly dissappointed with Shadowbringer support changes and that's that."

I am just... Really saddened by it.

I've always been a healer that only heals and I appreciate the instant heal for whm and more focus on just healing, stops people breathing down my neck for not throwing stones at things while trying to keep people topped up

Also like the removal of rng from ast, im usually unlucky with everything so i know i would always get bad cards, im yet to play ast so i dont know how it works but any reduction in needing luck to play well is something i like.

I can promise you, it's not going to stop. Just because they claim there's going to be more "emphasis on pure healing" doesn't mean people are going to tolerate you just sitting around doing nothing until spamming Cure on scratch damage.

Always remember Acam it's 99% accurate. Anyone with 1+ hours in the game knows that. Ignore the guy below he catfishes for gil. Also steals candy from babies.

Also protect the lalas, they are our best hope for survival through updates and expansions.

For reals though, best not go nuts till you've tried the new stuff. It might work really well or even be better. Dedicated roles sounds much better to me. Its a bit stupid seeing people try and do other roles, the game isn't about showing off. Be a team, do your job.

i... why, why would you not want to at least throw a aero at least, i mean come on you could even macro it to hit who the person you're targeting at the time is currently targeting if you really don't wanna change targets!

Playtime has nothing to do with it. It is about mindset, these changes will upset only the people who likes to learn their jobs to their maximum potential or just learn generally.

And indeed yes we don't know enough yet to judge and I can imagine multiple ways they could make this right but being realistic considering their past experience... Don't count on it.

To be honest considering the past experience, I am more inclined to say they would do it right, eventually. Given that there has been backlash when things don't work out and the development team straight up apologises for it. If any MMO has given me any confidence that they can learn from their mistakes, I'd say FFXIV deserves some level of trust. That said. It is a fragile trust at the moment... *eyes turn to Eureka*.

How about stop being lazy and start respecting your team?

I have to agree with Shirayuki on this one. Being lazy in group content is just being rude, it means the entire duty is going to take longer just because you don't feel like putting in effort.

if you use this you'll be able to focus on others and hit who they're currently targeting, it'll automatically use the best one available at the time, just follow the same formula of adding one with <t> and another with <tt> for any other skills you want to set up that way.
one thing with this method is you'll lose the ability to queue these skills but i'm guessing where you are right now that wouldn't be a problem since you'd be able to focus on what you like to focus on best.

Even now, before these changes occur.. there isn't much diversity to begin with. There are multiple roads that all lead to the same path. What we'll be losing is the fantasy aspect of it, and gaining efficiency in return. I would be disappointed but I mostly play as a Paladin/White Mage.

The story, lore and immersion are what draw me here. Streamlining abilities is a good idea I think, and their plan is in moderation.. not as if they're removing your ability to socket DPS materia on your tank or healer. People fear it may go too far and gut the mechanics to a bare minimum, but I say give it a chance.
I agree. Making the game easier is the wrong way. It should be challenging. Simplify everything is for casuals and that's it.

eh I have...."mixed" feelings about it as well, but if its the only way to mess with the "meta" and make things slightly more balanced I'm all for it.

people just need to learn how adjust (especially healers) at this point

On one hand, yes. But if it took neutering something to the point you spam 1 1 1 1 1 the whole time, chances are they aren't the kind of players we even wanted.
