Best job to solo old group content?

Planning on starting next month. Want to know if any job is capable of soloing old group content once you reach endgame (I think it’s level 70 yes?) . Stuff like the trials, dungeons or even normal Bahamut raid. Thanks in advance .

SCH is pretty good, was able to solo Binding Coil at 60, Twintania took a while though, no problems doing it at 70. I hear RDM is great but I haven't tried it myself.

RDM is really good as they have Ver Cure and Ver Raise as well as really good offensive skills to boot.

While I understand why the tank classes and summoner can be good for solo how exactly are scholar and red mage effective? I haven’t exactly looked at their kits or rotations but it seems like even with the self heals there damage output would be neglebile in comparison to summoner and warrior

RDM has Ver Cure, self heals as well as other buffs and decent dps to boot.

SCH's work kind of the same, self heals, decent dps with pets, untill they get the ax with ShB.

SCH is slower but completely doable and can stay alive pretty well. Same with RDM but, having more WAY dps.

EDIT: I have all jobs at 70 and I try to main them all at least a few times a week. Their all geared up for the expac so it's like butter with SCH and RDM. https://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodestone/character/7984895/

Ok I’ll go arcanist first and switch over to red mage whenever I get a chance to unlock it. Also wow you are the first person I’ve seen to level both combat classes and crafting to max.

I got hooked in beta and it was all over from there.

I'll get them all to 80 in a couple months after release lol

Depends. I switch between tank and Red Mage.
Red Mage can start to take noticeable damage, but the tank can walk through everything.

The real problem is mechanics, some mechanics require two people, or you need to finish the boss before they start (like killing an ad or something). It's unavoidable. I had to use DPS for a few because the tank couldn't kill the boss quickly enough.

You also can't under-level the raids, only the trials and dungeons.

SCH has much better survivability than RDM, so it will be easier, especially if you hit enrage, SCH will be able to heal through it, whereas RDM wouldn't last long. The extra DPS RDM can do is kinda negligible in that regard.

Take Ravana EX for example - WAR, PLD, DRK, SCH, WHM are all around 9/10mins to kill, RDM is 7/8mins but it is a lot less forgiving fight, mistakes hurt as RDM and could easily cause you to wipe, whereas you can mess up mechanics as the tanks/ healers and still have no problem clearing it.

As you will be a new player, you won't be overly familiar with the game's mechanics, or the way each job works, if soloing content is what you want to do, it would be better to start off with jobs that are easier, but it comes down to personal preference as well, if you don't enjoy playing a job, you won't have the desire to get better at it.
