Culinarian Desynthesis?

I've got a message that my Culinarian Desynthesis lvl 1 is now available since I got my culinary skill to 30, but I cannot desynth any food nor any reagent I have in my inventory. How does culinarian desynth work, what can I sesynth with that and how exactly, if not from item menu?

Well yea, I guess, but how do I start with desynthing for CUL if there is no option for me to Desynth on any food I have? I ll try and hope it will show up on some lowest level food, but seriously, if its given on lvl 30 and i have to desynth lvl 1 food, kind of weird.

What kind of food can be desynthed? How can I know?

This wasn't what you were asking about, but maybe don't level desynth for CUL. I looked up your question elsewhere and found there is a cap to the total level of desynth you can have across all jobs and if you exceed that level, others will decrease.

Of all the jobs that you can level desynth, the general consensus is that you should absolutely not level up CUL desynth.

The top choices instead include crafting jobs for components your main can use. Gsm, ltw, wvr, and arm

Sorry, again. This wasn't what you asked for, but after a few minutes of searching online, all I could find was strongly discouraging CUL desynth leveling.

Yes, I have seen that somewhere and indeed had an opinion similar to this, thanks for confirming that anyway. Yet, I am puzzled, like, why the desynth option is just not there for me. Although, since I am not going to use it anyway.... maybe it is not that important.

Yeah the design choice is very odd indeed. It runs counter to the philosophy behind the rest of the jobs system in that you can do everything on one toon. Also this is the first game where I find recycling unwanted goods requires a separate leveling system.

CUL used to desynth fish mostly water shards and some sort of sand though at higher lvl some rare fish can give you quite valubale items from desynth though like has been stated it's not 1 of the better ones to lvl

for CUL only fish can be Desynthed (♥♥♥♥♥♥ crazy I know) it only offers a FEW types of vanity gear and a minion from certain big fish last time I checked.... (may have changed over the years because I don't keep up with that)

Sorry about the necro post, but if anyone finds this thread and is curious due to the general lack of up-to-date info on desynthesis out there, the collective level limit for desynthesis levels has been removed as of Shadowbringers patch 5.1, so you can now freely level desynthesis on all crafting jobs. furthermore any item can be desynthed for desynth exp so long as your desynth level isn't too far above the ilvl/desynth level of the item you're desynthing (although it's still worthwhile to desynth these items as you'll have an increased chance of obtaining rare items and demimateria) and yeah, culinarian desynthesis is kinda silly; there's only like, a couple rare items and a minion you can get through it afaik.
