PS4 or PC?
Hello,

The reason why I ask this: I mostly play on my PS4 nowadays because my gamer laptop is old and I only got a GTX950m in it. Dunno whether it would be good enough for this game under a raid or other events where lots of people needed and many effects on the screen.

Otherwise, I don't know if it's easy to handle on PS4 since MMORPGs got tons of skills on hot bar.

I am planning to buy a new PC in the future, but as far as I know, this game is cross-platform (if I buy it on both), so if my PC won't be enough strong for it now (by your opinion) then I may buy it on PS4 now and on PC in the future.

Good luck to you, Adventurer!
People says that joystick is much more comfortable in this game rather then keyboard. Besides in this game you should to use macros. It's pretty simple to setup.

I don't mean that playing on keaybord is awful. I'm PC player and use keyboard.

Crossplay does exist for this game, but I'm not sure you could transfer your account from PS4 to PC later down the road.

I speculate that the PC version will have greater longevity than the PS4 version if rumors of the PS5 is to be believed. I'm not sure how they'll handle transferring players from PS4 to PS5 eventually or if this is going to be one of those PS4 exclusive titles. Anyway, it sounds like a bit of a headache to me, I can understand if you don't think your PC is strong enough to handle it and you prefer the more immediacy of the PS4 to jump right in.

I'm sure SE will make some means of transferring your account to a newer console if that eventually happens.

Yes you can use the same account for PS4 on PC

I moved from PS3 to PS4 and now PC with the same account , you just of course have to re buy everything

I started on the PS4 and switched to PC at a later date. It's def possible. But you end up having to buy the game twice.

Is it still a rumor if its something we know if going to happen eventually anyway, regardless of official announcements?

When they dropped PS3 support, PS3 users were given a free copy of the PS4 version. It stands to reason that the same thing would happen with the PS5.

I started on PS4 and enjoyed it as a healer with a controller.
I’ve now moved to pc and the game feels and plays much better than it did on my PS4 and I honestly can’t see myself ever wanting to play it on PS4.

It’s all depends if you got friends on the console or not and if you plan to play console games or pc games.
Either way you’ll have to buy 2 copies in the end but if you keep an eye out you can always get them when they go on sale.

Best of luck!

If you play on PS4, and want to play on PC later, it's simply a matter of rebuying the PC copy of the game and linking it to your existing service account.

Your concerns about playing an MMO on a console controller are understandable, but Square Enix did such an amazing job with the controller mapping and options in this game that I know a large number of PC players who use controllers anyway. I'm personally K/M, but I started on PS3 and wouldn't hesitate to go back to controller if I needed to for some reason.

Not at all. Your character and game data are stored server side. If you want to change platform, you just buy the game, register the key under your existing SE account, and you're off to the races. You'll be able to load up your character on first login.

My preference is keyboard. And you definitely need a keyboard to communicate to your team.

That is not correct. Let's say someone is currently a PS4 player but they want to play on PC now. All they would have to do is buy the PC version of FFXIV. Then apply those product key's to their current FFXIV account. At that point they could play on either PC or PS4 and keep playing their current char's.

I really don't know if that is possible to have Steam version & SquareEnix version on same account. But I do know you can have Steam version and PS4 version on the same account.

It's possible to have both.

You definitely don't. Discord, Ventrilo, TeamSpeak, etc etc.
