FFXIV micro stuttering, frame skipping, issue on high end system
I have 237 games in my Steam Libary and I NEVER had a similar issue in any other game.
So I bought this game yesterday. And since then I noticed that I had some weird micro stuttering like every 5 seconds or something like that. It's not your usual "framedrop" that can happen in some games due to heavy GPU or CPU usage or overheating or such a thing (even tho that's not a problem with my system at all). It was more of a quick "frameskipping". All few seconds and only when I walk in this game or when I look around. When I stand still it workd perfectly finde!
Also, even when I have the micro stutters, the game still runs at an average fps of about 135fps with ultra graphics.
And again, this is the only game I've ever had this issue.

Now my PC specs:
GPU: ASUS GTX 1080TI (Standard cooler, max temp about 68-70C)
CPU: i7 7700K (watercooled max temps about 58C)
RAM: G.Skill Trident Z RGB DDR4 (2x8) 16GB 3000MHz
SSD: Samsung 860 EVO 2TB (more than fast enough for this game)

Now what have I tried (NOTHING HELPED):
- turning G-Sync off
- turning FPS limitation ingame off
- lower the settings to all low
- play the game in DX9 instead
- play the game at an even lower fps, like 60 in RTSS, even tho it runs at an average of 135 on my pc, but still at 60 fps cap it has this micro stutters but now dips down to like 57fps all 5 seconds.
- Installed older NVIDIA Drivers 399.24 from september 2018
- smashed my head against the wall
- installed newest NVIDIA Driver

Now I have searched the internet for solutions but it seems as if almost nobody has this issue.
And those who had, have already tried everything I've tried here.
So anyone can help or has a similar issue?
I might upload a video on YT as proof and will link it here later.

Hope someone can help. Thanks.

EDIT:
I will always update what I've tried here also. for people with the same issue:

- disable V-Sync manually in NVIDIA controll pannel
- play in all possible resolutions inculding trying fullscreen botherless and complete fullscreen and windowed.

I don't know if anyone else is having this issue, but I was experiencing the same thing and I found an instant solution, at least for me. Despite it being situational for everyone, I had a controller plugged into my PC that I wasn't using, and unplugging that controller immediately got rid of the stutter.

I know this is pretty old - but the thing that worked for me was turning off the frame rate to "none". For whatever reason, having it at 120 fps (my monitor refresh rate) it was causing all kinds of stutters and dips just walking around, it made text nigh unreadable. But turning it off, it actually runs stable. Was able to keep V-sync and G-sync enabled. Weird.

Thank you, this solved the stutters for me!

Thank god for you. I have been going insane trying to figure out why my FF14 was stuttering every 4-5 seconds no matter what options I toggled or add-ons I uninstalled. With my sensory issues, the stuttering was causing me real-life nausea and headaches... and it turns out it was the PS5 controller I've had plugged in to play MHWilds. Unplugging it automatically fixed the issue. And it wasn't even on!!
