Strange Mode
I haven't played the game in a while, but distinctly remember a mode of operation that when you hit a number key, rather than activate a particular action it selects the number of hud menu that is displayed.
I also remember that occasionally I pressed something and got in to this mode by accident and there was a single key I could press to return to normal ( no it's not <esc>!!).
Problem is that it's a while since I played the game and I can't remember what it is. I keep getting stuck in this mode and the only way for me to get out is to exit the game and come back in. I mention this in-game and all I get is blank stares. Does anyone know how to return the hud to normal operation?

Have you checked your hotkey settings? You may have bound the normal number keys to something weird.

No because normally they work just fine. It is something I accidentally press during a game that switches it in to the mode.

I think actually this may be a WIN10 something or other. I have discovered what is happening in that it seem to be the shift-lock is engaging. The problem is that my keyboard doesn't have a shift-lock so I subsequently cant turn it off. My only issue is I have no idea how shift lock is coming on in the first place.

If this is what I think it is, sticky keys usually activates by pressing shift 5x quickly or holding the key down for 5 seconds or something. There's a way to disable it for Windows 10, but I'm not sure on the specifics. Probably accessibility options from the control panel if I had to guess

Are you playing through the Steam version, and do you use shift+tab to access the Steam overlay? Sometimes the shift key gets "stuck" whenever I do that and shift+tabbing in and out of the overlay again fixes it for me.

No sir, this is a macro dude for turning on and off hud/hotbar elements.

Example: /hotbar display 9 [on/off]
/hud "Main Menu" [on/off]
/hotbar display 8 off
/hotbar display 7 off
/hotbar display 6 off
/hotbar display 5 off

Yes, this too, if you mash shift key too many times it will mess it up. Best thing for anybody ever is to turn off sticky keys.

Worst feature ever.
