As for Eden, Urianger's already surmised that Eden was the first Sin Eater, and the source of the Flood. At this point I see no reason to argue with that theory.
Next raid I'm guessing Garuda will make another appearance, as wind seems to be the most logical next element to awaken. After that, it's a tossup between fire and ice I think, so either Ifrit or Shiva. I don't think we'll do all 4 remaining elements in the next tier, though, so there'll be two new boss fights. Final tier will have Ramuh and the remaining Ifrit/Shiva, and another two new fights.
Unlikely we'll see Squall or any of the other main characters. Rinoa or Edea are possible I guess as they're sorceresses? We'll probably have Ultimecia show up in some form though, probably as one of the new bosses, along with Griever.
IDK, they do say Minfillia is still alive in Ryne, just dormant. But she could take over things, idk, could be Rinoa maybe, either way, im excited to see more VIII stuff
The sorceress theory is a really good one too I thought about, time compression and all that ya know?
Although it is debated what the exact nature of Eden is, the name and design indicate a link to the "Gardens," a theme in the game. The word "Eden" often refers to the Garden of Eden in the Bible. Gardens in the world of Final Fantasy VIII are para-military institutions, but the Garden buildings themselves can fly due to ancient technology, and have oval discs similar to the summon Eden. Eden invokes both heavenly and sci-fi imagery by appearing mechanical but being adorned with angelic feathers. Eden has a long needle on the bottom with a violet oval on the front. Aside from the female angel motifs on either side of it, within the oval one can make out a woman.
Early in Eden's summon animation, the Ptolemy celestial diagram floats in space. This is taken directly from Safer∙Sephiroth's Supernova animation from Final Fantasy VII.
Emet-Selch says that right before Ryne goes to Ahm Araeng to meet with Minfilia, and he even goes as far to say that for either one of them to awaken, one must absorb the other, "Who will be the lucky winner?"
This, along with what Minfilia herself said to Thancred in a flashback earlier on, leaves no uncertainty on the result of that meeting: Either Minfilia would take Ryne's place, or Minfilia would give to Ryne her all. Given the outcome, there's little doubt that Minfilia is now officially gone.
Oh, and before we talk about how Emet-Selch is an Ascian and can't be trusted, he had no reason to lie to us, and has, in fact, been entirely truthful with use for the entire expansion. And that's awesome, the best villains tell the truth.
No, no, no, this was during the Eden story lol
I even have a screenshot of Urianger saying as such.
As far as Emet Selch answer me this if he's so truthful............what was the calamity that took their planet and caused them to call zodiark?
What was the "Calamity" if they were already joined with the source and only split after Hydalyn and Zodiark fought?
He never says and nether does his memories in the Tempest. Not even his friend who he forgot to shape a default memory for.
All Ascians lie and theres more there than being told lol.
No, he's lying I think Zodiark WAS the calamity and the good Ascians summoned Hydalyn to defeat the evil, Zodiark.
IDK, all Ascians lie and reminding me 100 times, "Why would i lie", just shows me that you want me to think your not lying when you actually are..........
It's a common trick my kids do to, "Why would I lie dad", just to find out in the future they lied lol.
The thing about Ascians is that they never seem to lie, at least not on screen. Everything they have ever said has always had some measure of truth to it. It's almost never the entire story, they like to tell us just enough to lead us in the direction they want us to go. For example, they teach Beast Tribes how to summon their gods. They don't lie to the Beast tribes, they do, in fact, summon their gods and get the power to defend themselves etc. They just leave out the bits where their gods are actually mere simulacrums of their imagination, and have a destructive appetite for aether that will end up destroying everything around them.
Now, this isn't to say that you aren't right, for all we know Zodiark could have somehow been the initial cause of the Amaurot calamity, and the Ascians didn't so much as summon him as they *believed* they summoned him, and instead just sacrificed to him to appease him, or something along those lines, but I don't think Emet-Selch is lying. He clearly believes in what he says. He could be wrong, but again, being wrong about something doesn't mean you're lying, if you think you're right.
The best villains are those that believe they are the heroes.
And while the Ascians may manipulate, they tend to prefer half truths or omitting inconvenient details, rather than blatant lies.
Like with Ultima, it WAS everything they told Gaius, it was just ALSO a bit extra.
Amen to that, pal! I wasn't exactly fond of Squall as a character, but FF8 was one of my favourite FF games (the honour of most favourite goes to FF9). Here's hoping that the upcoming FF8 remaster will be good at the very least.
